The second book in The Haunted High Series: The Ghost Files was not as tightly written and fast paced as book one but that in no way takes away from this fine book Finn the werewolf is still the charming innocent werewolf trying to make his way through the swirling challenges and adversities in Haunted High. The main plot points in this segment were weakened because lots of back story was added here to more completely flesh out the characters. The characters are now far richer and more real since reading book two. Book two can be best defined as a team building book led by Finn and his supporters.
Finn and his intrepid team were placed under their first situation where they would have to fight as a team No more of this vampire werewolf hate and how the vampire werewolf feud was resolved was a masterpiece of writing. The slower pacing of book two in no way made it worse. Finn is the up and coming alpha wolf of his pack like team whom he would die for but in book two the supporting characters get an equal chance to shine. The characters are evolving in subtle logical ways. I started the series HATING Briggs because he just hated werewolvesfor what then seemed no reason.
In time I not only understood why Briggs hated werewolves but more importantly I watched as Briggs transformed before my yes into a respected LOVED Friend to all members of the team especially Finn. Briggs is Finn's mentor of sorts and watching that relationship deepen makes me happy beyond words and forces me to read the next installment.
