5.0 out of 5 starsThey ARE funny!

The stories in this book are a bit cheesy but students like goofy stories. I enjoy them! There are stories that are short enough to use as quick jokes. I bought all three in the series. I am reading through them and picking out the ones I like the most. I always am searching for good supplemental things.
I have been trying to learn Spanish for years and the one thing I really needed besides a few years in a Spanish speaking country was a book that helps me to practice. This sequence of books is ideal. The anecdotes are short. They are not laugh-out-loud funny but they are mildly amusing. However, their strengths are their use of vocabulary and the style in which they are written. There is a lot of conversational dialogue which uses all manner of tenses including the subjunctive ones. I hope these will help me to speak better when the time comes. The stories are immediately understandable while a closer examination of each sentence reveals the detailed use of language to the determined translator. The level is higher than GCSE but not too much.
The only thing I don't like is that only 70% of each book consists of text and the rest is advertising.
Ciertas palabras o expresiones me quedaron obscuras.
