Andi's friend Riley is all excited about his new dime novel. Although not wanting him to read to her at first as she is busy training her foal, Taffy, once he thrusts the novel in front of her face Andi changes her mind. More scared than she will admit, the story sets her imagination running wild as the story was about an Indian captive. At breakfast when her brother, Mitch, tugs one of her pigtails as he can see she is dreaming, she jumps up spilling milk everywhere thinking that an Indian is capturing her!
I LOVE the way the author always brings humor into her stories through Andi's mishaps. Makes the kids laugh as they appreciate that we are not the only family that has mishaps!
Later Riley and Andi, along with Midnight, Coco and Taffy, head out on the ranch with Riley intent on taking Andi to the creek. Alas he gets lost but doesn't admit that to Andi as they do happen upon a creek. What is that noise? Who is in the bushes? Both Riley and Andi get quite the scare when two Indian children appear? Andi, of course, is convinced they are going to be captured!
The story has a great ending but I won't ruin it for you here. Lots of valuable lessons to learn. If you have not checked out the author's website yet and all the wonderful FREE activity and coloring pages, please do. They are superb and really help cement into the minds of young children what has been read to them or if they are older, what they have read themselves.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED from our house to yours.
