5.0 out of 5 starsThis Book is the Light. Alex Okoroji brings So Much Power and Makes Truth Attractive
Reviewed in the United States on February 14, 2018
At first I didnt know what to expect, but as a fan of Nollywood Actress, Alex Okoroji during her days as Betty on my favourite Soap opera Spider, I bought this huge book just to see what all the noise on twitter was about. Naturally, I decided to read her chapter 2 first, since her name is on the cover & she is the only one in the book I immediately recognised. I am completely blown away. This book is the light. Alex makes Truth very attractive. Her level of honesty and wisdom shared makes you question your own thoughts, journey and purpose. I love her writing, her play with words and how she transformed her life after divorce into a global phenomenon. I love that she isn't ashamed to write about her frustrations, her financial struggles, her struggle to fit into the entertainment industry standard of beauty, her struggle to be loved and throwing away her "bleeping paper" as she calls it. What I love most is that she truly releases and reveals everything in a way that is so intimate, I feel like I now know her personally, almost like a trusted friend. But seriously 9ja no dey carry last o. There is not one ounce of pretense or self righteousness in her story. Just reading and realising that despite what I am going through myself, I too can be great. I too have the power. This is a heavy book. I know it will take me sometime to read all 21 Chapters because of my job, but I'm looking forward to reading the other women stories too. I get the feeling I'm in for a transformative treat. Two Thumbs up to the ladies for baring their chests. In a world that is so judgemental, they are all indeed very brave.
