5.0 out of 5 starsA riveting story

I really tried hard to not read the whole book so quickly, but I couldn't put it down. Another triumph in writing for Ellie Dean. Though this "episode" leaves more questions than usual, you get to feel the struggle to maintain equilibrium on the home front. Just about everyone is overwhelmed by stressors of different kinds, which seems to be the book's theme, and how everyone reacts to the stress and reacts to the stress in others makes for a riveting story. I have the next one on pre-order and will try to maintain my equilibrium until it comes out.

If you are an Ellie Dean fan and a Beachview Cottage fan, this new installment will not disappoint!! The war years are slowly drawing to a final push, D-Day, and as the world swirls around the challenges, Peg and crew must fight to keep their faith and joy. I loved seeing past characters return, Ron's inevitable hijinks, and even the ferrets get a bit out of hand. It was a jolly great read, and I can't wait to see the opening chapters of the next book due out in August. Thank you, Ellie. Visiting Cliffhaven always feels like going home.

I am on my 14th book in this series...I think I really enjoy it more because I am an ex-pat..I was born right at the end of this war and my father served in the RAF..I love the colloquial English accents...I feel as I’m part of this war time family🤗

I received my copy of A Kiss and a Prayer from Amazon and devoured it in a matter of hours. This series really is my favourite of all time. The characters are just so vibrant and relatable and their lives, loves and tribulations just leap off the page.
In this instalment as with the last we spend some time not only in Cliffehaven but with Jim in the Far East. It’s lovely to see more of a main character that we all love so much. There is also a great storyline for my favourite character Ron and of course appearances from everyone’s favourites including Cordelia, Rosie and Peggy’s girls.
If you loved the other 13 books then this will satisfy you and leave you desperate for the next installment. If you have never read Cliffehaven before than what are you waiting for, get started, you won’t regret it!!

Well another Ellie Dean Book enjoyed. I have followed up The Series of these books. you feel like you are in there with Them . And feel you know them all as though they are real. But know they aren't..but a lovely series or Saga of the family Life of the family in Cliffehaven with Peggy. Ron. And Frank. And the Girls that lodge there .Ivy. Rita. Sarah. & Fran. They are like a real family. I have read all the series and love Them. this Book I couldn't put down till I read it. But after I had It seems the end came to Quickly. Good book lots of action it. With Poor Danuta turning up in Hospital in the Memorial Hospital in Cliffehaven. Been brought back from Europe There the Dreadful Nazis tortured her. I know what I would Like to have called them but won't. And then thought of Poor Ron will he make it with Rosie. Well it leaves you in The Air there. Till the New Book that will be out I. August. Which I'll Buy. Just this story line. Book. Just home from Home. Didn't want it to end the book. So it will always Get Five stars from me. On this. Ellie Dean. Just lots going on in it. With Stans wife Ethel getting arrested For stealing with Olive. Felt sorry for Stan. But he will get on With his Grand daughter looking after him. And then thought Doris had met her end. After her house got blown up by the Rocket. But alas no. Not her. She is impregnable. But She annoys me with her Bossy posh ways. And how Peggy Puts up with her. I don't know. I'd tell her it's my House. You toe the line like everyone else. And she gets what she's Given. By Peggy. Instead of demanding the whole front Bedroom. It's not her house. She should be in the Attic. Not Rita and Ivy. I would definitely not let her have her own Way in Peggy house. .even if she was bombed out.. She is a very cheeky stuck up woman. how they tolerate Her God only knows Ron had the best Idea about her. I like Ron he's a great Charater. Makes the series. Well done Great Book.. I will definitely be reading the next New one. Fabulous.

With a Kiss and a Prayer written by the super talented Ellie Dean was once again a fantastic read, where us readers can once again visit our favourite guest house owner Peggy Reilly and catch up with all her news. I have loved this full series by Ellie Dean but for me, I have to say I do believe this is one of her best, as she not only brought this time in history alive through excellent characters but with storylines which I could firmly believe in as once again historical facts were used as the main storyline. Peggy Reilly is still working in the uniform factory, doing her bit for the war effort while keeping Beach View her boarding house going as best she can which is not easy due to the tight rationing. We are also brought to Burma to see how Peggy's husband Jim Reilly is surviving as well as fighting not only the Japanese army but the many dangers which the Burmese jungle holds for him on a daily business. There are many comedy moments involving the wonderful Ron Reilly Peggy's father-in-law as always with Ron his escapades had me laughing so hard the tears were running down my face, though with this book we see another side to Ron and I personally loved him more for it. Of course, like all of this series there are other residents of Cliffhaven which also have a starring role in this wonderful read. Another wonderful book in this terrific series which makes it very easy for me to recommend With a Kiss and a Prayer written by Ellie Dean.

Yet again I couldn't put this down. Have read the story of Peggy right from the start and now can't wait for her next one. So full of life with its ups and downs. One minute I feel really sad and the next laughing at the antics of Ron and Harvey and now Queenie is starting to join them! Poor Danuta and what she went through to help during the war. The hours of research are incredible to tell the story of what went on to save this country from the Nazis. How Peggy copes with the rationing and her family spread out is sad and yet how true it would have been. Loved that Ethel got her just desserts and hope to read next time that Stan is happy again. Roll on August when the next instalment arrives on my kindle.
I don't review every bookI read, even though the book may be a good read, but I have reviewed every book so far in the Cliffehaven series, and this one again is an absolutely fantastic read. I am dreading tge day when I finish Book 18 but am hoping Ellie keeps us going. Book 14 a joy to read. Well done again,Ellie.
