3.0 out of 5 starsHas potential but the main character is such a weak character

There is a lot to like with the books. I think the pacing is ok and the dynamic between the twin sisters is interesting. But I really struggle with the integrity of the main character, she reacts to every situation more like a librarian rather than someone who went thru police training and was supposedly good enough to be promoted to detective before becoming a vampire. In thinking back thru both books with every situation that she is in, she handles it poorly. If she is supposed to be a good cop then the author needs to own it and find a way to stay true to this while introducing the element of danger. The ending of the second book contains the same issue not as a cop but with her strength as a vampire. In the end, it really ruins the story for me.

A solid story and second installment with some good characters but I really felt that things have moved in a slightly downward direction from book one. I just really wish Jenna's background as a police officer was researched by the author. An up and coming star in the police force following family footsteps should demonstrate more skill and knowledge - at least acting like an officer. The "no one knows vampires exist" angle is a real weakness and dragging the series (like many of its predecessors) down. There are 2000 vampires in her city, each has 5 "blood harem" - thats 10,000 humans with direct interaction with vampires - now there are vampire clubs? These aspects just damage the believe-ability of the world the author has worked so hard to create. These books are also very short.
Last comment - I have read book 3 and its a HUGE step down - vampire high school
Don't write many reviews and grade harshly by most lights but this was an entertaining read and deserves a review. I liked this book better than the first, which was itself good enough to try this second one. Usually, authors have trouble with second books, forgetting to keep the action and tension going and just hashing out character details with tired plotting. This was a welcome exception and bodes well for the next in the series. Overall, good continued character development and a little action, though more would be welcome. A little romance but not overdone. The author has a fair "voice" and demonstrates good construction and other writing skills. Overall - recommended.

Angela Roquet is one of my favorite urban fantasy writers - and I love her Blood Vice series most of all! It's got a touch of all my favorite genres: crime, mystery, vampires, werewolves, and romance. You'll laugh out loud, you'll tear up --and you'll love the wonderful characters and world she's created here.
Though I love Blood and Thunder, Blood Vice Book 2 even more than Blood Vice, Book 1-- you should read the first book in the journey in order to appreciate Detective Jenna Skye's rough transition into vamphood.
I love love this series and can't wait for more. Thank you Ms Roquet for putting such a really fun, suspenseful , read out. Keep them comming the faster the better. Try the spotless series by camilla monk it's not a paranormal read but very very good or amanda m lee mystic caravan another very good read then will have another of the fantastic series .
I had a hard time putting the book down. Vamps, half vamps, werewolves and humans..OH MY!!!. This series excites me, amuses me and enthralled me. Who would have known how the stories unfold and the plot thickens. I am, happily, of to book 3. Bye for now.

Jenna has set her eyes and fangs on joining the Blood Vice. Blood & Thunder is another fast paced installment in the Blood Vice series. Great cast of characters that I can’t get enough of.

In this second installment of Roquet's Blood Vice series, Jenna Skye has some decisions to make - and soon. She knows that she can't pull off her ruse with her sister posing as her during daylight hours forever and with Laura considering a return to Hollywood, that decision needs to be made sooner rather than later. When Roman, Blood Vice detective, turns up asking for Jenna's assistance with a vampire serial killer, it seems like the perfect opportunity to get herself in the good books of whoever decides she should be able to join on a permanent basis. She also needs to make a decision about her blood sources - does she really need a harem? How do you even make one?
I really enjoyed this story and like the way the series is progressing. Fast paced with an a good mystery line, interesting character relationships and a new spin on The vampire genre. The characters are well written and I find myself genuinely interested in what Jenna will decide to do about Vin and understanding her motives towards him, and what will happen with her relationship with Roman. Good read all round and book 3 is promising to be very interesting indeed.
this second book in this series is fantastically fast paced story. these set of caricatures are easily likable. and a great Mystery as well. look forward ton seeing how they pan out in the future. impossible to put down i find all Angela Roquets books good this series i can heartedly recommend if you like a good supernatural story.

Angela is a great storyteller. A good read. The storyline moves quite quickly with great characterisations. Jenna, our heroine, is shaping up quite nicely and I await the third book with anticipation.
