No matter how my day is going, whatever my disposition, it only gets better when I read a book by Jean Brashear. Such is the way I am feeling after finishing Texas Magic, the latest about Sweetgrass Springs. As I’m writing this, though, her words have captured me so, I’m stealing glances at these wonderful pages that have uplifted me so beautifully.
Ms. Brashear’s brilliance is creating characters who we wish we could know intimately. Strong, exquisite alpha males most compatible with earthy, independent and naturally feminine women.
When A. “Lexie” Grayson meets Dominick “Nikos” Santorini, she surprises him by offering to help him fix his car, stranded as he is by the road out of town. He can’t believe this little sprite’s knowledge and adventurous spirit and before he realizes it, she has guilelessly warmed his heart, as no other woman ever has. Like lightning striking, the air between them sizzles, forcing them to give in to a passion, unlike anything they’ve felt before. When Nikos leaves a note, as Lexie is sleeping, saying he’ll be calling her, she floats on cloud nine.
As an Event Planner extraordinaire, Lexie is about to get the shock of her life as she learns Nikos is actually her mystery man and the owner of Poseidon Productions, the company she hopes to receive a contract to produce their Gala event. He never contacted her and aside from embarrassment, she feels humiliated by his brusque manner when they are introduced for her interview.
There is great depth, substance and mystery in this story and the characters created will keep you enthralled throughout, from Lexie’s best friend, Max, to Niko’s sister, Ariana and his second in command, Bradley. With Ms. Brashear’s unique talent, they live on in our memories like a refresh button. I can’t rave enough about Texas Magic and highly recommend it! Kudos ~ Bravo
