5.0 out of 5 stars Whisked away by Whiskerella

A great entry in a series that has been terrific from day one. My order arrived while I was at work on the night shift (at a bookstore, no less) and my evil husband texted me screenshots of him reading the book....without me!

There's so much opportunity in a fractured fairy tale and Vernon squeezes out every drop of humor and unconventional fun. She carries on the consistent message that a girl can choose who she wants to be with and shouldn't be forced into anything that isn't the right fit with lots of sly humor to keep the mood light. It's great to see favorite characters return (Wilbur, Mumfrey, Ratpunzel, Mom and Dad) as well as meeting new favorites. More of the Bat Ambassador, please! Maybe a trip to Batavia someday?

So happy to see another entry in the series and my only wistful complaint is that now I have to wait for the next one.

4.0 out of 5 stars Another fun romp with Princess Harriet

Once again Ursula Vernon provides a fun skewering of a classic fairy tale. This hilarious take on Cinderella is action-packed and has a satisfying ending. Would be 5 stars, but a couple small internal inconsistencies were a little jarring - Ratpunzel's species changes from rat to mouse and back over the course of the book, and the name "Whiskerella" starts as a nickname Harriet makes up, which then everybody acts like is the character's actual name - but they're little nitpicks, and the intended audience of kids likely won't pick up on them. A really great addition to the Hamster Princess series, would highly recommend

This book was thrilling to read and hd a lot of adventurous themes and it was full of action packed scenes. This book empowers females and Ursula did a really good job of making this book sad, happy and mysterious. I can't wait for the next Hamster Princess book to come out!

5.0 out of 5 stars If you liked the earlier books in the series

Another addition to the series, of the same consistent standard. If you liked the earlier books in the series, which I did, you will like this. And, though the books are aimed at pre-adolescent children , they also make excellent light reading for all ages (I am in my sixties). The sign of a really good children's author.
