2.0 out of 5 starsOdd and far from one of Bunn's best!

While I have really enjoyed many books by this author, I didn't find this one to be enjoyable. I very much am a believer in miracles, but this story was far-fetched in my opinion and doesn't line up with my Christian beliefs... more like reincarnation of one person who passed into another person's body.

Loved this book. Didn't fully understand it--I don't think the author was espousing reincarnation, but somehow the hero, who dies early in the book, is brought back into the body of another man. And his only thought continues to be of the girl he'd left behind. The one who had lived her life bereft of him, had tried to move on and had only made herself miserable in the process. The two meet again and...well.
This book is really hard to describe, because the plot isn't easily categorized and the players don't seem to follow the script; they're more like real people, saying and doing things that sometimes don't make sense. But they've got breadth and depth and are understandable and identifiable. I loved them, and cried at the end of the book--I won't tell you why, but let's just say it's a great story that you'll need a good sturdy handkerchief to get through.
Having enjoyed the first book in the series so much, I was looking forward to reading this one. However, there's almost no connection to the first story, and this one has a completely different feel to it. Whereas the first was something wholly believable, this one gets more into the fantastic. (A dead lover returns in the body of a young suicide to find that his sweetheart is now elderly.)
While it's intended to be a sweet romance, I found it to be just odd enough that it was hard to ever really route for any of the characters in it. To cheer for the two main characters ultimately means rooting for a romance between a college student and an elderly woman, and that was too unsettling to be all that enjoyable.
5.0 out of 5 starsWonderfully Believable Fantasy of Love

I am always amazed and thrilled by the variety and depth of Davis Bunn's stories. This one is no exception. It is a tale of love lost, love found, living in the moment, letting go. I found myself pausing during my reading to contemplate various thoughts that arose as I read this very unique book. The characters are wonderful, and they deal with very real events and feelings. There is also an element of fantasy in this story which had me constantly wondering how the author would choose to weave the story together. It is a book I will long remember. I hope Davis Bunn will bring more characters to Miramar Bay with future stories.
I think this is maybe the most unusual story I have ever read. It is both unbelievable and yet believable. I loved Lucius and Jessica, as well as the other main characters. I could hardly put the book down as I had to find out what would happen next. For those who embark upon this journey, read with an open mind. Instead of thinking, “No way!”, think “Why not?”; after all, it is a fiction book.
Absolutely amazing story of life, death and love. Very different than I expected. It is unlike anything I have read before, kept my attention and interest throughout. It’s difficult to describe the story or plot, you just have to read it.
Miramar Bay was ok...predictable...a great deal like watching a Hallmark movie. So, I figured more of the same for the second book in the series. Boy...was I wrong! David Bunn has written one of the most intriguing stories I’ve read in quite some time! It was not at all what I expected and I loved it!
This is one of the most unusual stories I have read in a long time, but in saying that it was thoroughly enjoyable and it kept me totally engrossed to the last word...but it needs a sequel. I just want to know the how or why!!!!!
