It was very enjoyable to spend more time with Viktor and Ankari again, this time on a space station the Mafia wishes to take over. Ankari and her partners are there on business while Mandrake Company is fighting elsewhere. About the time Viktor's ship docks, problems begin to surface. Naturally this leads to plenty of action involving ingenious ways to blow things up! The space going Mafia is attempting to extort money from the station business owners and Ankari drafts Viktor into helping her disrupt their plans. At the same time, the Fleet arrives looking for more information on the alien artifacts discovered in The Ruins of Karzelek.
The story is told from Viktor and Ankari's point of view but Lauren, Jamie and Sergei have important roles too. There is plenty of very hot scenes amidst the action to keep things interesting.
I usually end up reading these stories at least twice . . . first time to find out what happens next and the second time to catch all the details I missed rushing through the first time. Would love to see Ruby write at least one more book in this series . . . Lauren's HEA. :-)
