This book was a great follow-up to Caraval! I’m already reading Caraval for the third time and Legendary will be for the second. That’s how great these books are.
This is Tella’s story. Her experience. All she wanted to do was have some fun while playing Caraval, oh and save her mother. She knew she was going to have to use her wits and even maybe her sister, Scarlett. She didn’t expect that it would become a game of survival. Who would she save? Herself or someone she loves? She just wanted to meet Legendary but it became more when she met Jacks.
We start in the past and end in the present. Nothing is as it seems even for the reader. There is so much mystery, intrigue, and danger lurking around every corner. You feel like you are a part of Legend’s new game. That you are right there beside Tella helping her figure out the clues and then yelling at your kindle when she’s being reckless or something that’s so obvious to us is not so obvious to her.
You become so enthralled in this book that you lose all sense of time. Forgetting the world around you- becoming one with Tella. You are Tella and Tella is you. Caraval is your home now. Nothing else exists.
Legendary is a masterpiece. A world full of color, characters full of life and a book full of depth. It’s so easy to get lost within its pages for hours. Stephanie proves again why she should dominate the YA Fantasy/Fiction genre. When you can read two of her books in 5 1/2 hours that speaks volumes.
