Not a great read. I didn't really like Kendall and Nash simply annoyed me. The mystery's solution felt jerky and forced, making a surprise villain so the author could claim "unexpected plot twist!" There was no background to it, just Kendall's vague suspicion/dislike. The story goes on and on but suddenly 'Evil Dark Overlord' (the villain) pops up and the story races to a frantic conclusion.
Details that were supposedly important through the first 2/3 of the book, are brushed aside at the end with a facile and somewhat dubious explanation. Kendall's dysfunctional relationship with her father is what you'd expect, with her uncle in the role as mediator. Ho-hum.
Deleting this from my Kindle and will not be buying any others in the series.
