Awakened by a Demoness is book 10 in the Eternal Mates series and, unlike many of the others, this one can honestly be read standalone with nothing being missed. For fans of the series, this is almost an aside. They may hold a place in future books (Rey, the fifth commander of the Echelon, is at least acquaintances with the fourth commander who we have met before), but that is yet to be seen. If you're a fan of Mrs. Heaton's Her Angel series, this one will also appeal to you.

The book is written in third person omniscient from both character's point of view and features a demoness (extremely rare in this world) named Asteria and an angel she names Rey (angels don't have names). The two are sent on a mission (separately of course) to turn a half-breed angel/demon to their side. Nothing is ever cut and dry, however, and as seen in previous books, heaven and hell are playing a game that we can't quite decipher. Yet. The story is fairly fast paced and takes place in places we've been before in previous novels with a few new peeks.

Asteria is overall just kinda fun. Not sure there's a better way to put it. She's been dealt a pretty crappy lot in life, but she sure does make the best of it, and it's fun to read. Rey, on the other hand, is stiff and unyielding in all things, knowing only duty. As with all previous books, this is a fated mate situation, so you can bet she winds up showing him a different view. It's fun to watch them find their way to each other, but also heartrending to see them learn truths that tear their worlds up along the way. The end was certainly a surprise and may portend important facts for the future.

If you like your romance with a lot of sass, some life lessons and revelations, wings, a healthy dose of steam, and a love to cross any boundary, I'd say this is a good one for you.

Hells bells & heaven above!!!! I loved Awakened by a Demoness
It's no secret that I'm a fan of Felicity's work. PNR is my 'go to' genre and her books totally hit the spot!

This story continues the Eternal Mates series but, for me, it had a different kinda vibe from the rest of the reads. I actually got the same kind of feelings that I had reading some of the books in the Her Angel series - and that was mainly down to the storyline.

Heaven and Hell are up to no good, again... They are both out to get a half-breed; pitting a fiesty, flirty and determined demoness and an uptight, straight-laced angel, an Echelon no less, against each other in their race to 'turn' the half demon/half angel to their own side.. but, as we've come to expect with Ms Heaton's stories, not everything is as it seems......

I really fell for this couple. The spark between Asteria and the Fifth Commander is there from their first encounter... they are drawn to each other, regardless of how much they try to ignore the 'enemy'. The build up of their relationship was fraught with doubt and second guessing of their connection and feelings. Was it all real, were they really mates, as Asteria thought, or was there something else behind the attraction and their inability to stay away or stop thinking about each other.

Asteria is a lot of fun. She's got no filter, she's sexy, sassy and will use any means required to get what she needs. When it comes to finding her target she determined as hell - she has to be as, with this mission, she's pretty much fighting for her life - if she fails her duty this time, the outcome could be way worse than death - and for this particular demoness, that's unthinkable!!

The Echelon; he's hot, good looking and he HATES demons - his kind will kill any that they come into contact with... but when he meets Asteria, for some reason, he fights those feelings. He experiences emotions and thoughts that an angel shouldn't have for anyone, never mind a demoness... and he doesn't trust that they are real.

Even though they are in competition to find the half-breed, they end up working together to try to find her as she's currently hidden in a coven. When they do finally find her, she tells them something that blows everything they've ever known to hell and back.... That's all I'm saying, 'cos anything else would give the game away! ;)

Packed full of the action, adventure, twists, turns and intrigue, with all of the heat, passion and sexy times we love, Awakened by a Demoness felt like the start of something bigger to come in the Eternal Mates story arc.... I could be way off base in my thinking, but I'm excited to find out where this fab series goes next.

A fantastic, 5* read. Even though AbaD is the 10th book in the series, it could easily be read as a standalone, but IMHO, read the rest of the books, they are well worth it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Main Saga Continues with a Slight Detour

This story is more a side story that features none of the main characters from the previous books. It’s beautiful and quirky because demoness Asteria has the flirty fun sexy persona that makes this female warrior a challenge. Tasked by The Devil to fetch a half-breed angel/demon and bring Julianna to their side in a form of redemption for a failed mission, little did Asteria know the same task was assigned to The Fifth Commander of the Echelon Angels. Not having a name, Asteria gives the Fifth Commander the name Rey. These two fight the attraction (which is amusing) and as the story unfolds learn they are fated mates (Asteria knew before it was legit). However they also learn something that twists the plot. So these two fall in love and neither Heaven nor Hell will stop Rey from his female. Such a good story - strong ending.

I enjoyed this story. It's about an Angel and Demoness who are on the same mission one from Heaven and the other from Hell. They are looking for witch who is really a half breed. Well this mission will become one of life and death. The chemistry between this couple is off the charts and will burn your kindle. Heaton has a way with words when she is describing the Angel called Rey.. he is definitely a book boyfriend material. Happy Reading!!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Fantastic Read!

This is the tenth book in the Eternal Mates series. I loved it!

Asteria is a wonderful character. I liked her very much. She is one of the few demonesses living in Hell. Having made a serious mistake, she is terrified when she has to face her lord and master, the Devil. Instead of punishing her as she'd expected, he sends her on a mission - to find a half-breed and bring them back to Hell. Unfortunately, she didn't count on meeting an angel from the ranks of the Echelon (highest warrior class) nor being attracted to him.

Fifth Commander of the Echelon (or Rey as Asteria names him) is a wonderful alpha character. I liked him a lot too. He is protective, though he can be arrogant and condescending when he wants to be. Sent on a mission to retrieve a half-breed for Heaven, he didn't count on meeting a stubborn, sexy demoness who won't leave him alone.

I have been eagerly awaiting the release of this book as I am a huge fan of the Eternal Mates series. I love the world the author has created for the characters to live in. I started reading this book and didn't put it down until I finished it. The author usually introduces new characters in earlier books as cameos. This time, these characters are a complete surprise. I really enjoyed getting to know these two better.

The story is told from both Asteria's and Rey's points of view and this gives the reader an insight into their thoughts and feelings. They say opposites attract and Asteria and Rey are the epitome of this saying. They come from different backgrounds (Heaven and Hell) but their attraction is magnetic and instantaneous. I loved Asteria's teasing of Rey, but sometimes wondered if he would cause her serious bodily harm with his righteous indignation and arrogance in the beginning. Luckily, this didn't happen. What did happen left me reeling. There are a few surprises that I never saw coming and, although there wasn't a huge battle scene (I must admit I love those), the action was as intense as always. I must also admit that I felt a little upset that this book wasn't a little longer; it felt like I'd only just started it when I finished. However, the ending had me wondering what will happen next in this series. The story arc seems to be heading towards something cataclysmic, but I guess I shall just have to wait and see. Luckily, there is a small preview of the next book in the series, which has whet my appetite, called Haunted by the King of Death. This is due out in July 2016 and I can't wait to get my hands on it.

Felicity Heaton has written another fast paced, sexy paranormal romance that I thoroughly enjoyed! I love her fast paced writing style, which flows effortlessly from scene to scene. She is on top of my favourite author's list.

I do not recommend this book to younger readers due to the extremely HOT and explicit sexual scenes. However, I highly recommend this book (and series) if you love sexy paranormal romances full of vampires, elves, werewolves, cat shifters, succubi, incubi, angels, dragons and demons (and demonesses). - Lynn Worton

...so, what did I like about it?
I am a big fan of Ms Heaton’s Eternal Mates Series and love her writing style! This novella is no exception. Another passion filled novella in this amazing series. I think it can be read as a standalone.

I enjoy the way she mixes fantasy and reality; her characters are never black or white, good or evil but a complex mix of positive and negative traits and emotions which they either have to embrace or overcome; Rey and Asteria are the perfect examples of this. Rey, an Angel, is light personified? Asteria, a Demoness, the epitome of darkness?

I have already mentioned in previous reviews how I love the way Ms Heaton makes the most explicit sexual scenes very romantic – I think she’s a very talented writer because, for me, a story is only really erotic if I’m emotionally connected to the characters involved. Ms Heaton gives her characters such depth that they do become real, even in these shorter novellas, however it’s not just her main characters that have depth but I find all of the characters she introduces into a story to be complex, multifaceted and completely believable. I think it’s partly due to their very real human virtues and foibles even though most of them are mythical, paranormal beings.

This story made me giggle, gasp in shock and shed a tear or two. Of course, I got caught up with the passion (who wouldn’t *blush*) but the tender insights into both Rey and Asteria’s histories, doubts and the growth of their trust in each other’s love was heart-warming to read. I am hoping that we’ll see more of Rey and Asteria in future instalments. *hint*hint* Felicity Heaton

So, ummm, was there anything I disliked about it?
My only complaint was the ending.
I was disappointed that it was so abrupt. :-(
It isn’t a cliffhanger ending from an adventure or romantic point of view but I was left with many questions; where will the fated mates live, within one of the demon realms, hell or even earth? How will they survive? Will Heaven intervene?

So, basically what I’m saying is...
It was a great read that made me smile, cry and feel all warm & fuzzy inside. I thought it had well written erotic thrills, heart pumping fight scenes, amusing banter between our main characters and tons of romantic gestures. I would recommend this book to those who enjoy reading stories about the wonderful illumination of removing the blinkers of prejudice, inner strength and of course, soul saving love.

This story has some amazing twists and turns...it has a slightly different flow to it than the other books in this series but i think that make the story better. The characters are well developed and the worlds are so easy to fall into. The ending was my favourite twist as i thought that it was going to go a very different way but i prefer the way it actually took without giving to much away!

I think Felicity Heaton puts a lot of work into her stories and this series is growing so fast with more books than most of her other series...but it is one of her best series because of the wide range of paranormal people and her creativity.

This was a really fun read! There are hints - and more than hints - at bigger stuff coming in the future but joining Rey and Asteria on their journey was enjoyable and I found them to be a really cute pairing. Both dangerous and powerful but together, somehow completely adorable especially in their interactions and finding their way to each other. I love how Felicity has imagined them and I find myself hoping that we bump into them again in this universe.

It does feel a bit of short read, like a stepping stone almost to something greater, but it's a welcome addition to the Eternal Mates series. It could be happily read as a standalone but if, like me, you love this series of Felicity's, you'll enjoy it even more.

Absolutely loved this one. I've read them all and this one for me is 5 stars because I love the way felicity pairs two people. They were complete polar opposites but nothing could stop them from coming together. They fought hard and loved long. A great read you won't be disappointed.
