5+ stars! Beautiful read, just beautiful.
Alex comes from a well to do family; money, privilege, society...and expectations. Alex is an artist, a free spirit, determined to not live the predetermined life her parents have planned out for her. West is a struggling college golfer trying to make ends meet while bearing the brunt of his family's finances. His daddy left and his sister has many medical problems, and therefore, many medical bills. Alex and West meet at the golf course and their attraction is instant. West fights it once he finds out who Alex is, who her family is, determined he's not worthy of her, not what she deserves. Struggling with money, West enlists for the army. Alex gets accepted to an art school in NYC. With only a few months remaining together they make the most of the time they have left.
6 years passes. Although she wrote to him often, Alex never heard from West again. Is he alive? Has he moved on? She discovers, shockingly, not only is he alive, he lives in the same town where she lives and runs her gallery. When she seeks him out, she finds he has changed, in more ways than one and is given the cold shoulder. Can she prove to West once and for all, he's everything she's ever wanted, everything she deserves...as is.
This story is beautiful from start to finish. The writing is just exquisite. It makes you feel, makes you hopeful, makes you proud. This is the second book in the Over series, and although I knew I liked Alex is book 1, I love her in this story. She's got such a pure and good heart, with drive and determination. West is a fixer, a selfless man who would shoulder the world for the people he loves. You also get a dose of all the other great characters from Hope Over Fear, giving you the humor and camaraderie that made that book so great. I enjoyed this one very much, highly recommend.
