4.0 out of 5 stars Bullies, pain, greif, loss and healing.

Hannah's sister is dead and her family is coming apart. Alone, suffering, grieving and being bullied, how will Hannah cope? Word of warning, you will probably cry. So. Much. Pain! Seriously, who is protecting Hannah? I was mad, I was sad, I hurt for her. I hurt for others like her. Hannah winds up with a friend, and she is on a journey to heal. The ending is very sudden for this book, but I felt that it really covered a great deal of bullying and pain. Almost a 13 reasons kind of story.

My copy came from Net Galley. My review is my own, left of my choosing.

5.0 out of 5 stars So Good!

This is not a book one can read without crying. There is a lot of heart ache and pain in the story, but it is sort of healing to read. All of us experience some form of bullying in our lives and so identifying with Hannah is easy. Mourning the loss of her security as mean spirited people torment her, and those who should protect her pretend it's not happening was very evocative for me. Having this theme intertwined with the loss of her sister...it just was very real. Despite the sadness and pain, the working through it all was so well done.

5.0 out of 5 stars So insightful!

This book was amazing! I loved the insights it gave about bullying, death, and panic attacks. I hope it made me more sympathetic to those who struggle with any of those issues. While reading, I thought about each of the teenagers I interact with at school. I hope they are kind people and I hope they are treated kindly. High school is tough! I highly recommend this book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Read!

I really enjoyed this book. Excellent character building in a setting that was new to me. Well written. Touching without slipping into the maudlin like so many books about teen bullying and the death of a family member. Especially loved the irreverent Josh. The ending is a bit abrupt and I would have loved an epilogue. Nonetheless, I highly recommend to teens and adults alike.

4.0 out of 5 stars I liked this book.

Overall, I liked this book. I think I could have loved this book, but there were storylines that seemed a little rushed to me. For being a pretty dark book (dealing with elements of grief, bullying, depression), I think it gives Young Adults a lot of heavy topics to think about and any book that gets someone thinking is worth the read.

Zorn shows a teenager caught between a father who may have caused the death of her sister and a mother too angry to see how much the surviving daughter is suffering. Well written and emotionally connecting.

This is not your typical YA story. It’s an honest look at bullying and tragedy and how it effects people. It’s about letting people in and remembering people for who they are. It broke this mama’s heart to only turn around and give it hope again.

Great book, good characters but a little brief for my liking. I feel like this story ended really abruptly and didn't really offer a lot of closure.
