This story has moments of high action and intrigue that are quite enjoyable but the story line is also very frustrating at times. Warning: If you like happy endings, which I do, this story will lead you right up to the edge then hit you with a punch. Christina McKnight is very good at bringing out the flaws as well as the strength of her characters. She makes you care about some of the characters and leaves you wanting to read more about them. Each book is a continuation of people and events from previous books, as well as adding new ones, weaving in fictional family history with actual historical events and living conditions of people during that time. Scorned Ever More is darker than former books in this series. I gave 4 stars instead of 5 because I would have liked to have seen some events fleshed out more. I sometimes felt like I was being rushed through to get on with the story.
Scorned Ever More (A Lady Forsaken, Book 3) by Christina McKnight Even though this is Book 3, it takes us back in time to tell Andrew’s story. As Christina warns, not all stories have HEAs. In spite of that, there was a love story that I truly believed needed to be told to bring even more depth to this series.
The best way I can describe this book and the others in the series is: once you start to read you want to hurry and get to the end and then when you are at the end you want the stories to go on and on. Superb story and writing!
I haven't read historical for quite a while and this was a good read back into that world. It seemed a little slow at times but in some ways that was more realistic as things don't happen overnight. The end was a surprise and the next book will be very interesting as our hero did grow on us towards the end.
