The novel has a great setup. Girl goes to a mysterious new nightclub after a bitter breakup, hoping that copious amounts of alcohol might help her process things. Of course, they don’t (we’ve all been there). But what happens next threw me for a bit of a loop, and I just had to keep reading to try and figure out what was going on.
The author unwraps things just a little bit at a time, which really helps build the suspense. Scene after scene leaves you with more questions, and when you think you’ve figured it out, something else leads you away from your conclusion. I sorta saw the reveal at the end coming, but I still reeled a bit from it when it happened.
The sex scenes were… a bit over the top for me. Just my opinion. ☺ I enjoy more subtle and flirtatious interaction than full-on hardcore. That being said, I can see why it was necessary for the development of the story. There was some real important character and plot development wrapped up in the sex scenes that I didn’t expect which just added to the layers of mystery.
Overall I really enjoyed this book since it operated on so many levels. The characters were realistic and the main setting is awesome. Definitely worth the read for anyone who enjoys sexy mysteries.
