5.0 out of 5 starsHere with a new dark, unique take on life.

Better than Hyena. Jude has really come into his own on this book. Crazy tales of sex and drugs and self doubt. An exploration into the depths of a man who both knows exactly what he wants in life, but is also constantly contemplating the existence of what is possible. Deep, dark, wildly amusing... the kind of guy who will have your back; help you bury a body, and give you the best tips for the most incredible music on the planet Earth. This book tells the story of a man loving life, searching for the ulimate satisfaction, and the ability to craft a yarn to convey his self-disappointment, doubt, and acceptance of the short, wild ride we all take for a few decades.
5.0 out of 5 starsAn interesting look into a well-known radio hosts life... would recommend even if you know nothing about him...

I’ll start by saying while I am not a fan of the show (just not my thing), my s.o. loves it and this is how Jude’s books became purchased.
Why should you buy the book if you’re not a fan of the show? Jude is able to tell stories like no other author (regarding autobiographies). The book is refreshing, honest, and one of a kind. You’ll get glimpses into his life from when he was a child to current times. The stories in Hummingbird have a more serious tone than Hyena, yet you still get a decent amount of his drug and sex adventures. With this being said, the book is for adults.
We purchased the audio version of both books (Hyena & Hummingbird) and listened to them in car during travels. If you’re on the fence about purchasing his book/s, I’d recommend purchasing the audiobooks- there’s something about how Jude tells his stories that adds to the experience (he is the narrator of his books).
Would recommend his books if you’re looking for something different than your typical autobiography or something that will make you feel (laugh, cry, etc.).
After reading Jude Angelini's first book, Hyena, I knew I had to read his second, Hummingbird. Written as a collection of essays, each chapter can be read as a standalone short story, but collectively tell the real, raw and at times, grimy, story of growing up in poverty, surrounded by divorce, drugs, and sex.
Angelini isn't just another famous person cashing in on his stardom. Hummingbird is a real autobiographical account of his life, written without a co-author or ghostwriter, showing that Jude Angelini is more than a "shock jock", but rather a genuine author with an interesting story to share.
I so highly recommended this book, and Hyena, that I bought 2 more sets that I gave as Christmas presents. Both the gift receivers have already read both, and were equally as impressed as I am.
5.0 out of 5 starsA Masterpiece; or, Bukowski on Ster---Ketamine

An incredible follow-up to the stellar "Hyena". Angelini has the most unique and engaging voice since Bukowski (and before him, Hemingway). Sure, many of these stories veers towards smut at times, but Angelini always manages to reel it back, and turns seemingly gratuitous vulgarity into a heard-rending story. Seriously, for any white male that grew up in a low-income, diverse (i.e. no more than 50% white demographically) area in the Midwest, this book resonates with an uncanny truth that has never been honestly depicted with any sort of sympathy before "Hyena" and now "Hummingbird"'s release.
No book has kept me wanting to read more than Hummingbird. Don't be fooled by the amazing artwork and name, this book is raunchy as hell. Jude Angelini extends on his straight up truthful demeanor and humor, giving us insight into many experiences Jude has faced in his life. Don't expect a heartwarming bird story, because if you buy this book and give it a crappy rating because it wasn't what you were experiencing, then you just didn't do your research and you're a fool for spending your money on something you didn't know you were getting. Check Jude out on Shade45 (SiriusXM) where he has the best and funniest radio show. You can listen just to him speaking minus the music On Demand. If you like this, you'll love his first book Hyena. Buy multiple copies, buy the audiobooks, buy the special edition vinyl. Jude deserves his success going from chilling in the slums of the D, to frying people on the Jenny Jones show to Shade 45.

A great read. Dark and comical, Will definitely make you laugh out loud. Hummingbird let's you experience what life is like for Jude Angelini . If you've never experienced illicet drugs or casual hook ups this book puts you as a fly on the wall. It's like I'm watching a movie reading this. Jude is a awesome story teller. I finished this book in one freaking day. So good I couldn't put it down. Kinda upset when I finished because I wanted more. I love this book more than Hyena(also a good read ) . I feel you could really see the growth of Jude's writing from the last book. Buy this book it's pretty DOPE. Would make a great book for your coffee table, because you wouldn't expect the words in it with the cover and all. Shout out to Jude. I think he's a Genius with a talent that couldn't be replaced. I don't feel like he gets enough credit for his dopeness while he's here with us. Can't wait for the next book

I been listening to Jude from the UK for about 9 years now and dude is funny as hell. Both his books are great. But Hummingbird is absolutely brilliant. Great stories, easy read (for someone who’s only ever read a few books) and great laughs. Buy this book, I got 2.

The most devastatingly wonderful laughter in the dark. This book will suck you in and leave you thinking about it until you pick it up and read it again. It's impossible not to fall in love with Jude a bit when you read Hummingbird. And that's no bad thing.
4.0 out of 5 starsRead at own risk, but it’s worth it!

Expect the unexpected with this book! Rude Jude is exactly what you’d expect, abrupt and not caring. He shares his life’s stories with no actual timeline but with extreme detail. He will leave you confused, bewildered and intrigued ! Also note lots of bad language, drug use and sexual depictions! I thoroughly enjoyed the book!
I loved "Hummingbird" by Jude Angelini. I loved it so much, I read it twice. The first time, I couldn't put the book down due to pure shock value! I had to hear all the stories and know what was going to happen next. The second time, I read it slowly to digest every word and understand what Angelini was going through in his life at that point. It's so rare to have a celebrity with a rough upbringing share all the details of their life. Especially the details that are difficult for the average person from the suburbs to relate to; making it easy to pass judgment on Angelini. As long as you can approach this book with an open mind, I would highly recommend reading it!
Amazing book. To me it seemed that Jude took a different approach with this one. Seemed to be reflecting more of the sad times in his life rather than the raunchy hilariousness. Reading it was an emotional roller coaster. But once again Jude knocked it out of the park! Binge read both of these books with a total time of 8 hours and i regret nothing!
