4.0 out of 5 stars Cupid's Arrows Fly

The second book in the Lady Archer Creed series is just as much fun as the first. In this book, Lady Georgina is trying to win archery competitions in order to support herself so she does not need to marry. Her father, a Duke is too busy with his new wife and baby to pay much attention to her but the new Duchess is intent on getting her out of their lives.
Georgina is a strong, independent woman who makes her own way in life. In doing this she sometimes manages to drag her friends along for the adventure. One of her friends is Fenton. They were childhhood friends but Fenton (being a boy) didn't realize that Georgina was in love with him before she was sent away to school. Now that she's back, he seems to always be in the right place at the right time when she gets into trouble. He is also trying to win the archery competition to save his coal mining business.
Amanda Mariel has done a wonderful job of creating lovable characters and provides a fast paced, clean story that makes you want to see this pair have its Happily Ever After.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Book!

This is such a fun series about four young ladies that are accomplished archers. Sadly, they have to pretend to be men in order to compete.
Georgina is so strong. Her father has remarried and the duchess does not care for Georgina. She sends Georgina away to school where she meets her new friends. When Georgina returns from years at school, her one true love has grown up. So has she. Although they fight their attraction for each other, cupid's arrow tries to pierce both of their hearts.
I have enjoyed all of Amanda Mariel's book. I feel this is one of her best works. The story was engaging and clean with likeable characters (except the duchess). This is a wonderful series. I look forward to the next book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Lasting Friendships and Lost Love

Friendship, loyalty, and honor above all. A mantra four school friends live by.

Abandoned by her father and the man she loved, then shipped off to a boarding school for ladies, Lady Georgina Seton is determined to have a life of independence. She knows the perfect way to do so – by earning prize money in archery contests; contests where more often than not she must dress as a man. When the love of her past appears she does all she can to avoid him but when she’s outed to the press she may have to rely on him to save her future.

Felton Crauford, spare to the heir, has always been determined to forge his own way and he has found the perfect way. However, he has two problems: 1) his dwindling funds and 2) he needs permission from his neighbor to mine on his land. The same neighbor whose hoyden dogged his ever step in their youth. Leaving a meeting with his neighbor he encounters said hoyden and cannot understand why she is now treating him with such disdain. As their paths continue to cross can he figure out why?

When Felton discovers Georgina’s secrets will he spill all or will he vow to protect her and will Georgina let him?

Excellently written tale by Amanda Mariel of lasting friendships and lost love. While the story was about Georgina the other three friends made frequent appearances to lend support and give background for future stories WITHOUT taking away from the main character.

This is the second book in the series and I was really looking forward to reading out. I was not disappointed. Georgina has loved Felton for 7 long years and he had no idea. Her father remarried and now ignores her and her stepmother wants her gone. How will Georgina' s love of archery lead her to true Love? I'm really looking forward to Josephine's story. I can't to see what comes for this shy girl.

I was given an ARC copy of this book for an honest review.

5.0 out of 5 stars CLEAN AND SWEET
Reviewed in the United States on May 18, 2019
I purchased this as part of a 4 book bundle called LADY ARCHER'S CREED books by Christina McKnight and Amanda Mariel.

Sweet and clean story and thankfully not heavy on character of Adeline. Oh how I disliked the character of Adeline, in another Lady Archers Creed story THEODORA, she is one of the 4 friends. But, I would encourage you to read the story of Adeline, as it is a favorite of mine.

There really isn't a villain in this novella, unless it is the wicked step-mother who is just mean. This is a story of the h loving the H since childhood but he didn't feel the same until she came back from being away to school. Their romance blooms slowly and was touching to see if unfold. Yes, some editing problems, but didn't distract for me.

The friends join in but have a small part. This is a story of Georgina finding her way and opening her heart. There is no cheating, no cliffhanger, HEA, romance and clean.

I can't improve on the blurb, so not attempting, just what you may discover reading it. This can be a stand alone as the author's do a great job of giving back story. (ljb).

1.0 out of 5 stars MUST RESEARCH ENGLISH HISTORY BEFORE WRITING A NOVEL
Reviewed in Australia on May 19, 2017

The author needs to learn more about historical novels. If a party arrives on horse they do not leave in a carriage. Butlers serve tea not maids. Tea is served from a teapot not a kettle. The plot was good but more work is needed to correctly depict English history. Coal is not mined half an hours ride from London. Coal is in the north of England at least 3 days journey.
