The best kind of literary experience is one that can make you laugh, cry, smile, and even bite your nails all in the span of one novel. A Cunning Heist has it all. My favorite thing about Astrid's writing is her cast. Each one is richly portrayed, and it feels like I'm reading about real people, not just "characters". Sloane is a likable heroine, and despite the genre not being my usual, I'm beyond hooked now! Without giving away too much, I have to say the new people introduced in this second installment are colorful and fun. Not to mention the chemistry with Ethan is back and better than ever. I can't wait for a third book in the series. I have no idea how I'll be able to wait! I highly recommend this series to anyone who likes to read about relatable characters, enjoys a good adventure, and wants a fun read that mixes mystery and humor flawlessly.
I'm officially hooked on this series! Sloane is back and proving once again that she's not a desperate housewife. Of course, she finds trouble along the way. But that's why I love her! Claudia and Bizzy add laughs to every scene they're in and Ethan adds the sizzle! I'm looking forward to more Sloane adventures!

5.0 out of 5 starsSloane is full of humor and drama – and I loved every second of it!

This book is a fun, fast paced, intriguing read filled with mystery, suspense, love, and lots of humor!
Sloane is full of humor and drama – and I loved every second of it! Sloane is sweet, but very stubborn, clumsy, and tends to get herself tangled up in some pretty crazy situations!
Sloane recently vows to work on herself and stop being a doormat. But, when her ex-husbands ex-mistress, Kate, comes to her for help, she can’t help, but agree to. It isn’t long before these frenemies are down the rabbit hole and head deep in the art world. With sketchy characters and danger lurking at every corner this bored homemaker may have got herself into too much trouble this time.
Sloane is also on a bit of a guy dry spell after her Ethan (originally from book one) pulls a disappearing act and she doesn’t hear from him for six months! Just when she’s starting to get back out there guess who walks back in – Ethan! I had some mixed emotions about this relationship and wasn’t really sure I was going to be on Team Ethan or Team Felix lol! Ethan came off a bit of a flake and jerk, he did have his reasons, but no spoilers here. However, they seemed to have a lot of history from book one and I think there is still more to them to be later determined.
Not only does this book have well-developed characters; they are relatable and ones that you’d actually want to be friends with!
The storyline flows and is well written with very detailed scenes and a heavy handed drop of humor.
This book is fast paced and keeps you engaged and entertained through the last page!
Although this book is book two in the Sloane Harper Book Series, it can easily be read on its own. There are lots of overlapping characters and connections from book one, but I didn’t feel lost or confused as I hadn’t read book one beforehand.
This book ends with the set up for book three, so beware if you start this book you’ll definitely want to see what happens next in book three!
I really enjoyed reading this book and totally had a smile on most of the time I was reading it! Furthermore, this book will definitely have you laughing-out-loud so probably a good idea not to read it at a library or class or work lol!
I would absolutely recommend this book to anyone interested in a fun, entertaining, silly, enjoyable read that is filled with lots of drama, humor, love, and mystery!

When Astrid approached me to read/review A Cunning Heist, I jumped on it. I was a huge fan of A Cunning Plan and I couldn’t wait to get my hands the next book. I couldn’t wait to see what antics Sloane would get herself into this time and I wasn’t disappointed!! A Cunning Heist is huge on the laughs and drama as well as a small slice of romance thrown in there.
Sloane is one of my favorite literary characters out of everything that I have read recently (within the last 6 months). She is sweet, clumsy, a great mom and trying to find herself and her way after the hijinks in A Cunning Plan and her devastating divorce. She was also very forgiving and it was that forgiving nature that landed her in the middle of a mess this time. Maybe it’s because I am not a nice, forgiving person, but I couldn’t, no wouldn’t be friends with someone who broke up my marriage. The fact that she was working on herself (and her list cracked me up, btw) and trying to better herself was great.
I didn’t feel the romance between Ethan and Sloane this book. Maybe because the book was so focused on Sloane, I just didn’t connect with Ethan the way I did in the first book. Also, he came across as very jealous and almost stalkerish in the beginning of the book. I kinda laughed when he was jealous of Felix and Sloane and assumed that he was her boyfriend. I mean, hello, he didn’t contact her for months afterward, she should have moved on.
The whole art heist plotline was fantastic and the situations that Sloane got herself into made me crack up laughing when I read it. I mean, a toilet paper bra….really? And throwing Turkish Delights at kidnappers? I would go more into the art heist part of the book but I won’t. You need to read the book to find out exactly what happened. I really liked Felix. Talk about a suave guy who oozed sex appeal. There was a point where I was worried that Sloane would end up with him but well, you need to read the book to find out.
There is a small plot twist at the end of the book that took me by surprise. But, it did give the perfect clue to the next book and I can’t wait to read it!!
