Stay is the second novel in the WAGs series by the dynamic duo of Sarina Bowen and Elle Kennedy that tells the story of divorced Hockey pro Matt Eriksson and Hailey Taylor Emery. This review will probably be all over the place because seriously I have a love letter in my heart about this book. I am so COMPLETELY in love with it. I thought their meet cute was fabulous, their chemistry was out of this world sexy, their banter SO fun and and all together marvelous, hysterical and perfect (See: love letter.) I fell head over heels over this sexy, devoted father of two and the sassy woman who helped him start over!
Both Hailey and Matt find each other to be an unexpected breath of fresh air from what they experienced with their exes. Despite being neighbors, childhood friends and college sweethearts, Hailey's relationship with her ex husband lacked passion and intensity which hindered her self confidence, made her timid and unsure about herself. Likewise, Matt and his ex wife's relationship soured due to her feelings of jealousy, abandonment and insecurity attributed to dating an in-demand and popular athlete. As a result he believed himself to be unfit to be someone's partner and his self-confidence took a hit. But with each other their confidence and self-worth grew. They helped build one another up and made each other better! I absolutely loved this about this book.
I loved this story ya'll! I had butterflies the whole time and related so much to the characters. It was an honest portrayal of two people who were nervous and unsure but they took a leap because what they felt for each other was a first time kinda love feeling. *SWOOOON* This was the perfect story of second chances and new beginnings and I personally could not get enough!
And can we talk about the Bowen and Kennedy "Magic Touch" where they create stories where friendships and sisterhood are showcased so beautifully? I love the brotherhood and banter between all the players. I absolutely loved the spirited back and forth between them and also the easy acceptance, kindness and just loving sisterhood among the WAGs. It was so beautiful! All in all this book was absolutely amazing. I hope there are more books in this series as I'm not ready to let them go. Bravo! 4.5 stars! ~Ratula
