I have a hard time finding good Christian historical fiction that isn't cheesy or trite. This series was well written and interesting, and kept me engaged from the first page . I especially loved the romantic chemistry between RyAnne and the Captain. The way our faith was woven throughout was the icing on the cake . Looking forward to more from this author .
What an incredible series! Lynnette Bonner's descriptive words painted the story before your eyes. I listened to the entire series with audible, and the narrator drew you in.... From the harbor at Bagamoyo, to the dust and heat from the African Plains, you felt, smelled, and heard every whisper the author wrote. Truly incredible writing... Thank you for such a beautiful experience.
5.0 out of 5 starsAbsolutely one of the best historical fiction series ever written.

Absolutely one of the best series I have ever read—and I read a lot! Suspense on every page packed full of personality and love. I learned so much about the real life trials of slave trading. I appreciated the author’s comments at the end of each book, which connected the fictionalized events to real history. Very well written. I so look forward to Lynnette writing many more such books. I am a huge fan!
Each book in the series kept me up past my bedtime. I couldn't wait to see what was next. The faith of the characters was inspiring. A pampered young lady when confronted with difficult and sometimes seemingly impossible situations rose to the occasion. I really would like to know the response of the parliament after she goes before them.
5.0 out of 5 starsWonderful series. Enjoyed them all!

What a wonderful ending to this series. Captain Dawson and RyAnne certainly know how to have adventures you'd never dream of. Ms Bonner did such a great job on this series. The characters are great and it's easy to picture yourself in Africa as you hear the roar of the lions and walk through the tall grasses. The sixth episode of the Spice Isles pulled the other five episodes together very well.
At first I had trouble trying to figure out what was going on. As I continued to read I finally figured out what was going on. I really like the Christian parts in the story. It was more a figuring out story than I really like but in all made sense in the end.
