As I get older I realize that the time has come to treat my body better, and this book has some great ideas to help get rid of toxins in the body through diet and yoga exercises. The author is a gifted writer, easily and clearly explaining a lifetime of learning in a manner that is both engaging and thought provoking. The book is well-organized and helpfully illustrated. So far, I've just incorporated some of the diet and yoga guidelines into my personal routine, and I'm already feeling more alert and energized. I plan on giving the full 40 day detox a try in the next couple of months. What I appreciate the most about this book is that the author isn't a monk, or a hermit living in a temple, but rather a teacher, practitioner and investment banker, with a full-time stressful job just like the rest of us.
I spent a lot of time with this book, reading and digesting it over a few weeks. There is a ton of knowledge imparted by Ms. Gancheva, along with a generous helping of encouragement. In her own words, she promises to "...guide you and provide you with the needed essentials and tools for you to achieve your goals."
The book is a complete program combining yoga with healthy nutrition and cleansing. The author does a wonderful job of outlining her program and then teaching readers about nutrition basics, toxins, how to detox, and what we can do to change to a more healthy lifestyle. Ms. Gancheva reminds us that this is not a diet book and that our goal should not be losing weight, but on cleansing our system (which, if you are dealing with a weight issue, cleansing will have a positive effect on your body).
A detailed pictorial of her Full Kundalini Yoga Set (to use during your 40 days of detoxing your body) is provided. I have a Kindle Fire, and by turning it sideways, I was able to see two clear photographs at a time, very helpful in performing the positions.
Okay, so here is my confession and my excuses at the same time. While I would like to do the entire program, my current job and lifestyle would make it extremely difficult to achieve BUT Chapter 6: Mariya's Checklist provides a helpful list reminding readers of everything she has covered in earlier chapters. Incorporating a few of these every week will slowly move me toward even better health, and I believe that eventually I will be doing so many of the healthy suggestions that it would be easy to begin the 40-day detox that she advocates. During my reading, the author has taught me some new skills, reminded me of items I already knew, and given me encouragement to continue to work toward improving my diet and my health. I can't ask much more of a book. Five stars.
Loved, Loved, Loved this book! I have not started the program yet, I need to clear out my fridge and pantry to get ready for it. I read the book from cover to cover as soon as I got it, and I learned so much. The book is written in a way that is easy to understand and her writing style is very appealing, the print is easy to read, and the book is not overly long. I am a busy doctoral student, but I could not pull myself away from reading until I finished it! It's strange, I felt myself feeling better, just by reading, and I have started to incorporate some of the diet as I gradually transition. I don't know if I will be able to do the whole 40 days, but I am going to give it my best!! There is so much that Mariya has to say that makes sense. Check it out, I think you will be surprised!
Ms Mariya Gancheva: THANK You very much for sharing your 10 years experience with us! I am truly happy to have you and your virtual KundaliniLounge studio like my everyday practice opportunity what gave me the chance to Thrive.
40 days of yoga and detox diet! OK, truth be told, I didn’t follow the book word for word, but I did read it and take advice from it.
The book has a great layout, I was slightly concerned when I downloaded it from Amazon that it would be text heavy and hard to follow because of this. But I was very pleasantly surprised that the e-version of this book includes pictures of the correct yoga positions and are easy to copy. I have heard of a lot of the yoga poses before, as I have attended classes in the past. The book was a good reminder of how helpful yoga can be for a calm mind and a more flexible body.
The detox part of the book wasn’t really for me, as the food you can and can’t eat is quite specific and you would need to be dedicated to following it. I think if you can give yourself the time and inclination to follow this detox and yoga programme properly, you will certainly feel the benefits after the 40 days and will feel healthier and more enthused to continue this healthy way of life.
There is a lovely Chinese proverb quoted in the book. If you have read my previous posts, you might remember that I have already mentioned that I like this quote.
“The journey of a thousand steps starts with but a single step”
In fact, the Author slotted in a quite a few very appropriate quotes and it made the reading a little lighter and gave it a positive feeling.
Within the book, the Author gives a website where you can either enrol and pay for videos, or you can join up and there are some free videos whereby you can copy their yoga moves.
As yoga and healthy lifestyle books go, this is a really good one. If you are dedicated to it! As the Author says ‘you can change your habits from self-destruction to self-love and happiness’
This book is a comprehensive guide. It is well written with step by step instructions that help you lose weight, detox and supercharge your health! I recommend this to anyone who needs to rebalance their health.
