4.0 out of 5 starsGreat Read for those Interested in Foreign Cultures

The book is very well written and, while fictional, very instructive as to political-cultural complexities of modern day Malaysia. I expected the book to be more of a political thriller. To me, that is the background context, while the foreground story is more about individuals' cultural identity crises and belongings, which, in and of themselves, still made for very interesting reading.
