"Grace Takes Off" by Julie Hyzy is the 4th book in the author's Manor House Mystery Series. This one is, by far, my favorite of the series. Grace has finally had time away from her job at the manor house, Marshfield Manor, and has gone with Bennett, the owner, to Europe for two weeks. Before they return home, they stop in Italy to see Bennett's old friend, Nico Pezzati, who has a beautiful home in Tuscany and who also owns a sizeable collection of original artwork. While there, Bennnett discovers that some of the artwork is fake, and he realizes that Nico doesn't know about it. With servants around, Bennett and Grace decide not to say anything until they get home and they will then call Nico and let him know that someone has switched the originals with fakes.
When it is time to catch their chartered plane home, the flight is cancelled and soon another flight is arranged and Grace and Bennett are soon on their way to the airport and board the plane. To their surprise, there are several other people on the plane, including the members of a band. Although they experience some turbulance, it is much more than a bumpy plane ride that is ahead for Grace and Bennett.
Someone on the plane is after Bennett's life. It is anything but a relaxing ride home.
The plot is very good in this book and the characters are numerous and could have their own motives for committing crimes. Grace is really coming into her own with each book, and seems to be able to stand up to Frances better. Mystery still surrounds Frances, but Grace is sure that one day she will find out what Frances does on her weekends. Grace and Bennett are very likeable and believable, and wishing them the best is very easy.
For me, this was a page turner that didn't take a long time to read. The setting at the beginning of the book was great, and the characters who appeared, often to Grace's surprise, were all either interesting or of questionable reputation. There aren't too many dull moments at all in this book.
I'm looking forward to the next book in the Manor House Mystery series and highly recommend it for mystery readers.
