4.0 out of 5 stars The author have the ideas and they're good but her writing style doesn't connect with me

I gave this book four stars for the plot it's good, solid but the Author in my opinion doesn't bring it across. She continuously repeats herself chapter after chapter I want developments, I want the mush and the angst but stop repeating the character name five times per paragraph, stop repeating they've been hurt we know move on from there.

Chara is supposed to be a bad ass Queens knight yet you've barely had her face off against anyone you could've dived into that plot, Mara could've went to her world even just to help, what became of the parents? What happened when Chara went back? How did she get back to Mara? There is so much left unsaid with your writing and it's absolutely annoying. So despite having the plots I could've thoroughly enjoyed I doubt I'll be buying anymore of your books which is disappointing because I would've enjoyed them having written better

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful, deeply emotional novel

Bridget Essex's Knight books are some of my very favorites, and I think A Dark and Stormy Knight is the most emotionally charged of all the novels yet. One of the things I enjoyed about it the most was its in-depth exploration of both the protagonists' personalities and how their personalities were shaped by their pasts. Both Mara and Charaxus faced immense pain in their lives, and bringing their suffering and the consequences of their suffering to light helps people who have been through similar situations feel recognized. Mara is a fantastic role model: she's been put through hell and feels unlovable, but the entire arc of the story proves that no one is unlovable. Another theme I loved is that "magic is real," and I always appreciate that in a novel. Beautifully written, beautifully imagined and characterized. It had the action and intense romance that I want from Bridget Essex's Knight books, and its pensive overtones made it stand alone well.

Love all your 'lady knights', they're the best!
Always look forward to your books. I'm not too keen on reading about vampires but everything else, I'm game. There always seems to be a story within a story in your books. What I mean by that is what you wrote in your "Author's Note" at the end of this book. Over the years as readers, we've read and heard that writers sometimes leave a little part of themselves behind in the books that they write. I'm grateful for your kind words. I'm sorry that you had to go through what you did in your past. Our pasts don't define us.
I believe we are strong, beautiful, and unique individuals looking for our forever home-(our true loves).
Hope there is more "lady knights" books to come. Thank you Ms. Essex.

As a sucker for love stories, this one captured my imagination. I am always on the lookout for romance not in the conventional sense. I won't give anything away, but if you are open minded, like romance but have been bored with the regular story lines, buy this book. You will be pleasantly surprised by where the book takes you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lovely lighthearted story

Lighthearted, as with the first book I read, I wasn't so much into the first person perspective, but that's my personal click. I have been waiting to read her story and finally had a chance. I think I enjoyed it more than I did of the first couple, but seriously - those knights may seem idealistic and all, but if you take it as the fairy tail dream it is and let yourself be pulled in, you end up wishing one of those knights for yourself too. Will be waiting for the next additions to the series.

4.0 out of 5 stars Love Is Boring, But Knights Are Splendid!

Is it weird that a book made me believe in true love? Ok so Ms. Essex's books are a tad predictable, but stay with me here, her knight series are magical. I don't even care that I know that the knight is somehow going to get the girl. She paints the tale so wonderfully that I can SEE the armor! I can see the fantastical wonderland and I just want to LIVE in it!

Yes fine, I will admit to trolling her twitter and facebook so I can be one of the first to know when the next in her Knight Series will be released.

5.0 out of 5 stars Magical and lovely!

This was the first book I've read by this author-----why did it take me long? Wonderful fantasy story of magic and love. Ms. Essex writes effortlessly and I was so entrenched in this book that I wasn't even aware of time passing (magic maybe?). Book was so entertaining and well written. I am so happy to know there are many more books by this author out there waiting for me. Thank you, Bridget, for your heartfelt story at the end of the book. You truly are a gift to your readers..

5.0 out of 5 stars but I'm terrible about writing reviews so something has to blow me ...

Full disclosure, I know the author personally, but I'm terrible about writing reviews so something has to blow me away for me to wrestle with the review feature, regardless of who wrote it. This is my favorite of Bridget's Knights so far. There is nothing I disliked, I loved all the characters, every scene in every chapter. The way Mara and Charaxus' lives intertwined, leading to the climactic reveal, was perfect.
