The Extinction Cycle series is just amazing. The storyline, plot, and characters all make for a fantastic read. I highly recommend, not only this series, but any of Nicholas Sansbury Smith's books.
4.0 out of 5 starsExcellent plot and story-telling, but need some refinement on certain details

I've already listened to 1-3 and that series is a great listen also. This set of books is no different. The plot, how the author developed the characters and the flow of the story was excellent. Seriously excellent. I have one pet peeve with this book or any book that uses military weapons and/or tactics. Do your homework and get the terminology right. To some, it may not matter and maybe it's because I'm prior service, but it is a pet peeve. So MK11 is Mark-11, not "em-kay" 11. I've almost gotten used to it as I've heard it more times than I can count. There are several other words that gave a civilian pronunciation rather than their proper military nomenclature. Again, not a super big deal, but with the rest of the book so well read and the speaker doing such a great job, it would be nice if he did his homework up front. Other than that particular issue, it was worth every cent. (Or Audible credit) and could not recommend these books enough.
5.0 out of 5 starsA Box Set for the Extinction Cycle!!

The Extinction Cycle continues to push the boundaries on this new form of the apocalypse. It's always a delightful read, and seeing that it's now offered in a box set, I hope new readers will take the opportunity and dive into this world. The characters are deep, the threats engaging, the military, science, and setting details are always intelligently incorporated and a highlight of the EC. These books are thrilling, engaging, emotionally powerful, page-turners. The Variants are terrifying, and with each evolution, the monsters continue to mount tension and bringing humanity to the brink of extinction. I hope you'll enjoy this box set as much I did. Few post-apocalyptic series make as much of a resounding and emotionally lingering effect as this. And none quite terrify me nearly as much. I still check dark corners for Variants. Happy reading.

Extinction Cycle continues to be the best new sci-fi series I've listened to this year! (new to me) We played God and at this point have almost wiped out the human population across the planet. Dr Kate Lovato is still working on something to destroy the juvenile population, which are far worse than their variant parents. Captain Reed Beckham and his team work on helping survivors and killing these things the old fashioned way. As the juveniles continue to age, they continue to evolve as well. Can't wait to start the next book! Great narration by Bronson Pinchot!

I cannot praise these books high enough. This box set is a great way to have the last 3 books in the series without needing to return to buy the individual books. When you begin the series you are going to want to continue reading all of the books in the series. Nicholas Sansbury Smith, in my opinion, is one of the best up-coming authors, I put his authorship on the same level as authors such as Clive Cussler. The end of book 6 will have you begging for book 7 when it is finished.
