After having fallen into the cliché ‘high-school-crush, teen pregnancy and no help from the father-to-be aka a promising QB Lacey is the single mother to a too smart for her own good Candace aka "Candy" with the full support of her father and the whole town that loves them.
Such a small place, all stories intertwine: Lacey is the proud owner of the town’s bakery, always doing charity work and never dating and her dad works for a nursing home, Royal Hills home to the mother of new-in-town Trent, a gorgeous temporarily unemployed teacher who had decided to move to be closer to his mum.
As fate has it, Trent is hired as a coach and guess who's the girl that catches his heart? Yup, Candy.
Following Valentine's day we drift to St. Patrick's and Easter – with a sweet “what are your intentions towards my mum” conversation rolling between Trent and Candy, and we smoothly browse through a picnic date. Lacey is weary of another heartache but a heartfelt confession from Candy of how she wished she had a dad makes her realize it’s time to give Trent a chance. After all if daddy and kiddo trusted him, why wldn't she? Mother's Day comes with a dinner date and alas, a kiss seals the deal.
By Candy's b-day they finally get together and after a few bumps on the road they move into a new life *no pun intended*.
I loved the pace of this story, you eagerly follow them dancing around each other through every event, in a sweet slow burn. Her dad, her snarky kid and his mum are also rich side characters, enhancing a very enjoyable love story.

Short n Sweet... the theme for Sugar n Spice! What a wonderfully sweet love story. For real..so easy to believe..
Coming from a smaller town I can easily see how a group of older folks with nothing to do and a 10 year old daughter can gang up on a couple of adults and nudge em in the right direction.
Lacey, Trent, Candy and a simple and sweet love story of learning to let go and let someone in.
Once again, an awesome novella from RE Hargrave, who never fails to entertain with great characters, simple stories, and excellent writing!

Sugar & Spice is a sweet novella featuring Lacey, Trent and her 10 year old daughter Candy. It is about finding true love and breaking down the walls that create the fear of loving/ being loved and the support of family. Mrs. Hargrave has the unique writing ablity to not only share the main characters story but also the secondary ones as well. Lacey's father, Candy and Trent's mom all have their own piece of the story too. The only thing I wish I could change about this book was I wish it was longer. It was a great quick read. I highly recommend it.

This was a nice, sweet story to be read in one sitting. I liked especially the character of Candace who was portrayed nicely and how Trent too his fatherhood so easily. However, the chemistry and love between Trent and Lacey didn't come through well enough.

This was a lovely novella. It was sweet and paced very nicely. Loved the different point of views. That always adds so many wonderful layers to a plot. I do wish we'd had the guys reaction to the big news being told to him. That would have provided so much more emotion to enrich this story. This is the first that I've read from this author and I'm looking forward to exploring her literature more.

A cute fun read. If your looking for something fluffy, no drama, and all round love between the two leads this is it. While I loved reading Mrs. Hargrave's erotic stories this one is iust as good and though out. Lacey and Trent meet later on in life, and while Lacey is part of a package deal with her 10 year old daughter, it's Trent that we see really has all the cards to play. He has to win over both mom and daughter. Beautifully done as always doll. Will be checking out your other short stories as well :)

There are so many romances out there, covering many different plots and styles, but this one had me engrossed from the first line. The characters are not only believable, but well rounded and thought out, especially the little girl, who melted my heart.

This is a must read if you fancy a good book while under your covers on the couch and eating cookies and chocolate.

Really looking forward to seeing any future stories from this author.
