The storyline keeps drawing you into the experiences of Richard and those around him. I can't wait to see how Jeena and Richard finally meet. And with the crew of the Defiant Richard's quest becomes more important to this magic and mundane universe. The characters are all changing and developing their own personalities as each has a different experience arising from Richard's trials. An excellent read. Great action. And am enthralled with Nickelo, the smart-assed battlecomp and closest friend Richard has. Keep up the good work. Looking forward to the next update to the intergalactic wizard.

For me, it is the perfect blend of science fiction and fantasy, character driven and plot driven storylines. Each book can be read as a standalone but as a whole, they combine to a complex and rich tapestry that I love. I relate to the personalities, wish I had some of the abilities, and love having these shared adventures. I have recommended this series to my family and they have enjoyed them also.
A good solid story, but i expected more from it. It answered several questions from previous books. The storyline was interesting and showed that the next book should be the last in the series. Some serious background political manoeuvring is highlighted in the book and our Wizard Scout hero needs to start learning how to read and survive in this type of war.
This is an enjoyable series, start with book 1. Sci fi, magic, a wizard scout, a marine, dragons, elves, advanced military hardware, unusual and Great mix. And no unnecessary sex scenes or foul language, just a great story that I am really enjoying, and would let my kids read without hesitation
No deep philosophical issues here just plain good versus evil in a fast moving well told tale that leaves you hungry for more. Entertaining and involving I anxiously await the next volume. Racing the first books probably aren't completely necessary but you'll enjoy the story that much more if you rad the series. Thank you Mr. Hartman!
Good pace, complete single story with good progress in overall arc. I love the team Rick is getting put together. As long as Mr. Hartman keeps finding intelligent villains and difficult situations and avoiding the protagonist suddenly losing IQ we should have a few more to look forward to reading. Keep up the great work Mr. Hartman.
I have read and enjoyed all off these books , and this one has been excellent.
The story grabs you and keeps pulling you through to the end, where it tells you just enough to make the wait for the last book unbearable ! Lol! Really , do your self a great service and read, and really enjoy this book. ,

My 12 year old (very mature) son has read the whole series and ABSOLUTELY LOVES this series and writer. He says they are the best books he has read. On a different note, I think the author is an amazingly nice person, having taken the time and effort to fully and comprehensively answer all my queries about the series and its appropriateness for a 12 year old. Hats off, Mr Hartman in every way!
