This is a collection of seven stories designed to be read aloud to children. My granddaughter loved the story about "How to Feed a Hungry Giant." Other stories include funny alligators, a secret reading room, and a lost pet. The illustrations are vibrant.

I was a lucky recipient of a signed copy of "Gators and Taters" as a baby shower gift for my son's birth back in 2003. The illustrations caught his eye one day when he was about one, and we've been reading stories from the book ever since. My son is now three and still loves all the stories. We've heard him use all the character's names while playing as well as recite parts of each story! My favorite is Augie Dogie! And Hootenflute is a literary work of art! We now have a 9 month old and have purchased a signed copy for her too. As parents who read to both of our children every day, this is by far our favorite collection of bedtime stories. Be prepared to be swept away on a magical journey each and every time you open this book.

I have not only read this book, but heard some of the stories read by the author herself. This book is a must have even if you don't have kids. The messages in this book are hearwarming and moving. If you ever have a chance to hear Elaine speak...don't miss it!! She is a true delight.

I love this book! I can't wait to share it with my young nieces over the holidays. They will enjoy the crisp poetry and the warm short stories, but most of all, they will love the characters from Cleo and Clyde to Emily, and the thrills they experience.
