I went into this book with pretty low expectations as it initially read as a cheap knockoff of Red Rising, but it turned out to be pretty solid. Characters are fairly engaging, writing is fast-paced and competent, and world-building is interesting with hints of more reveals to come. Yes, it leans pretty heavily on traditional YA sci fi tropes but it does the tropes well and throws in a couple of twists. Altogether, a fun ride and a fast read.
Couldn't put this book down, found myself using lunch beaks and every free minute I had to keep reading. The characters are well thought out with a complex twisting story line that just sucks you in. The main character "Jessica" is a fireball and as strong willed as anyone can be. I cannot wait for the sequel to be published. This book doesn't leave you hanging, it gives you closure even though there is still business to be handled. Love it!
A pretty good dystopian novel, and I like dystopian novels. I did find that it was a tad slow at times, but it was overall well-developed and exciting. Decent character developments, with a few twists that I was not expecting. At times, I did not want to put it down.

This was a fantastic work. Everything other than reading it became a burden as I just wanted to read and do nothing else. Then when I had to stop reading I was constantly thinking about it. It was amazing to me how this book took me in. LOVED it!
