Let me explain. I read, on average, 2 to 3 books per week. I’m not saying I’m some super-fast reader, what I do well is stay focused while reading. I do this by reading books by authors I love and trust.
So, with that in mind I dove straight in expecting a great and, given the page count, fast read, but something happened...
I love Friends, and watched the show every Thursday night back in the day, so this was an exciting book to read as a writer. It’s filled with lessons and anecdotes all based on different scenes and episodes from the series.
The thing is, after reading a section, I was compelled to watch the clip on YouTube, or the episode on Netflix. Lol, then I'd go back and read the section again just to soak it all in. This made for a long, but insanely fun, reading experience, and now I'm excited as hell to get back to my own WIP.
The cool part is that I find myself looking for story lessons in other sitcoms, drama series, movies, anything I’m watching. It's awesome, and I'll definitely keep "The One..." close by as a reference.
Killer book, I’m extremely grateful for these dudes.
