Mystery, tragedy, sorrow, these words barely begin to express the experience I had reading Midnight Dynasty. Sarah M. Cradit continues to weave her magical tale through the new characters while giving the reader some shocking twists. The rich history of the family mixed with some well thought out historical fiction is captivating. As a reader I felt so sad for the family who seems to have everything except they live under the dark cloud of a family curse, so much loss, not only in lives but in innocence and free spirits. I have talked to myself out loud, cried the ugly cry, mourned over fictional characters and prayed for the safety of a family that only exists in the imagination of Ms. Cradit and fans.
My heart aches for Oz and Jacob, two strong men suffering through losses that are similar yet different. Tristan has had much more than his share of suffering. The story has been an explosion of epic proportions. A powder keg of discovery, experimentation, denial, grief and tragic choices and decisions, it really does just shine a spotlight on cause and effect. When one person makes a choice it affects so many more throughout its ripple! This is just brilliant writing by a mastermind! There is so much depth and detail to the story it is absolutely shocking that one mind is able to weave all the fine details throughout an extended series so flawlessly! Past, present, and future are considered and accounted for at each turn of the page. The entire House of Crimson and Clover series is a must read for those who enjoy continuous series.
