I am in the minority because I disliked this story. This review will contain spoilers.
For one, I found the story frustrating. Julia and Angel's relationship is littered with regret, guilty, fear and miscommunication including giving each other mixed signals. These emotions run rampant throughout most of the book. It was tiring and annoying and not the least bit romantic to have a story contains those elements. It was a DNF story for me around 70% because I just did not care anymore about them.
Julia and Angel have been dancing around each other for 10 years when the story starts. While attracted to each they had smex with each other 2 times and had 1 aborted attempt when Angel ran away. Those times they had smex each thought the other was pushing him/her away leading to short separations because Angel ran away. Angel ran away a lot, even when he promised not to. Every time he did, he really hurt Julia who already had abandonment issues.
Unlike many readers, I did not like Angel nor Julia.
For one, Julia was a cheater and a liar. The two times Julia and Angel had smex was cheating as Julia was first engaged and then married to Angel’s best friend. She lied about being engaged the first time she had smex with Angel but he knew that she was married the second time he slept with her.
I did not think that Angel was an ideal book boyfriend or even man. He claimed to love Julia forever but that did not stop him from having sex with OW including a heroine in a prior story that ended up with his brother. He dated her including having smex with her for 4 months less than a year before the story started. I am not reading prior books in the series because not only is cheating a turn off for me but the current hero have smex with a prior heroine and one that ended up with a prior hero who is also the current hero’s brother is distasteful to me.
Another problem I had with Angel is that he was too wussy. He had umpteen chances to make Julia his before the story started and he blew everyone of them including when he first met her and she was not with his best friend. He screwed up ones in the present as well. He apparently did not love her enough to man up and stop running, which is what he did anytime he felt too emotional.
