I hardly everwrite book reviews because taste is a matter of taste :-)
But I do read ever book Terry Pratchett writes because I adore his style.
SOme of Terrys books pick up on famous stories or principles and twist them into something
thats so different and so full of fantasy that it paintsthe funniest pictures into the inside of your skull.
When I read the story line I thought hmm, interesting there is a lot of potential.
Well, it did not amke a lot of its potential. Some ofte figures are reasonably well drawn and show some dept, but somehow they all fall short of showing a real personality. The story line tries to be fantasy but falls very short of anything fanatsy should be in my book.
I found the book just flat, the story was half baked, no pleasure in reading it.
A word about the triade the kind author wrote in the beginning of what people can and can not do with his book.
Let me tell you what I think about that.he states you can not lend the book to anyone. I cant because it is in electronic format.
Otherways I would not care ONE BIT about your wish. Until recently, I found good authors exactly that way. People would hand me a book they read and found good, and I would read that author and if it touched me, I would buy his other books.
I think thats what happened for centuries with people and that is the way it should be. Thats why we have libraries.
I find the stance and passive aggression the author shows so repelling, that I have to admit, the book was already giving me a bad taste on the first pages, but I try to honor the work of an author and give a book a chance.
All in all a boring and flat book that tries to be something it isnt.
