Hmmmm....I mostly liked it. It was interesting. Especially the first half. The whole danger towards the end was strange. We are never told that the heroine has a ex issue so we are never worried about one until something happens. It just seemed to come out of nowhere. It's mysterious, with absolutely no villains, until all the sudden they appear. And we are to believe that they took her out of the bed that her and Mike are sleeping in without him hearing a single thing!! What's worse is that she later says that she knew this guy had found her because he left her a message on the bathroom mirror. But yet... she never tells anyone and has sex, then goes to sleep with not a care in the world. Just doesn't make sense.
Another thing I did not like is the whole vibe thing between our hero, Mike and Jesse, the heroine's best friend. Who the hero briefly dated. I felt like it wouldn't take much for them to cheat together. It is said more than once that they were hot and heavy together until they weren't. Then when he sits by her and their legs touch he gets a zing from touching her. After he's meet the heroine. I don't know where the author is going with that. Then it's mentioned again when Jesse is asking him if he's ok when he's in the hospital and even his brother looked at them like he suspected something is between them. Nope didn't like all that at all.
I'm interested enough to read the next book but I hope we get to the point of the story. It seems like it would be a good one.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great start to a new paranormal series

New paranormal series about of group of people who by the end of the book have special abilities awakened in them.

Christina has had abilities her whole life and her bible thumping family abuses her in the name of trying to exercise the demons out of her. Along with being able to see the dead she can also see a person's life history just from touching them. This didn't make for a nice childhood and made it hard for Christina to establish emotional connections to anyone. After the death of her parents she returns home, to a town she never thought she would step back in again.

Michael moved to Hidden Creek, Georgia for peace and quite after some traumatic things happened when he was a police officer. Problem is his quite life is interrupted every night by a ghostly apparition. He had been dealing with this for year and imagine his surprise when his new neighbor Christina can also see it.

What looks to be a story about two people having to deal with their past along with also accepting each other's abilities turns out to be so much more. There are quite a few secondary characters that are introduced who somehow are all tied together but something why is something we dont fully find out by the end of the book. This was a great setup for the series that still has lost of mysteries left to unveil.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not a stand alone but most of the story is in this book.

An interesting start to a series, with some clumsy plot twists. I quite liked the paranormal with slight horror style and was intrigued by the teasing hints of further stories.
Unfortunately there was a feeling of a cliffhanger in this book and after reading the rest of the books in the series I was disappointed. Not because of the overall story (which could have benefited from a good editor) but because the further books felt like after thoughts. And they were pretty much the first book written from another character’s perspective but without any new information or backstory.
Overall the series could have been rethought structurally to produce one or two really good books. I’d only recommend the first book if you don’t mind a cliffhanger.

(Spoilers...) Loved this book. I couldn't put it down. Jill does a great job of getting you hooked on the characters. You want to know all of Xtina's backstory. You want to know what exactly happened to her, how she has these "powers" that become stronger. Were they caused by her parents?, was she born this way? She did an amazing job of showing you the chemistry and connection between Xtina and Mike, and how their connection grew. Their bond is almost magical. The story is written in such a way that you can picture yourself in the story. This book will have you on the edge of your seat all the way to the end and then begging for more. I cannot wait for the next book in this series, I want to know who the blue eyed blonde is at the end and what connection Ethan has with Mike, Xtina, Jacob and Jessie. This book would make an amazing movie..
