Although I loved Collide, I loved, loved Stay. in Collide we meet Braden and Wes, side story to Noah and Cooper. Braden is Cooper's fire fighting buddy from work... He has never hidden his pansexual lifestyle, due to lack of gay men in Blackcreek, he has only been seen with women. Wes was Noah's friend who was steered away by Braden so that Cooper could get his shot at happiness. Wes in in town to take care of his dying sister Chelle and her precocious daughter, Jessie. He shared a one night stand with Braden, but wants to focus only on raising his niece...Braden is intrigued by Wes, more so because Wes is not smitten with him. He's not used to being "handled', waking to an empty bed. Even though Braden comes off as an in your face egotist, below that there is substance. He feels like an ass when he discovers Wes's story. Braden proves to be a real friend and support in Wes's time of need. Braden is not one to give up though and stays in Wes's face till he wins him over. Their story is fun and loving and made even better by having Noah and Cooper in it ... Jessie is the icing on the cake.
So Stay was amazing. It was more than I hoped it could or would be. I love Cooper and Noah, but I seriously have a softer spot for Wes and Braden. Of course we get LOTS of Coop and Noah in the story and they make it delightful and entertaining, especially Coop, love him so much. But Braden and Wes are something special. We start off with a very hard time, Chelle's funeral. Everyone is there to support Braden and Jessie, even Braden. He offers up his friendship services for Wes. And Wes being Wes refuses and is stubborn and pushes Braden away any chance he has. But they keep running into each other and Jessie falls in love with Braden and he cannot help but fall for the little girl. These two, their interactions are ADORABLE! I love them so much. And what a smart and sweet little girl. She loves her uncle Wes and her mama clearly was raising her right. For that little girl to understand the love between two men, it was beautiful. The entire story was beautiful. Love, hope, forgiveness, moving on, passion, acceptance, change. It was touching and moving, so beautiful. Braden being Braden he pushes the boundaries and slowly brings down all of Wes's walls one by one. Wes is slowly falling in love with Braden but he fights it and does not want to admit his feelings. He doesn't want to be left alone ever again and does not want to hurt and disappoint Jessie. So, after he learns some things about Braden from spending Christmas with his family, he starts to shut down and pull back. Braden gets the off of a lifetime. To move to New York and get his dream position. Will Wes ask him to stay? or will he let him go? you will have to read to find out. But it was amazing and beautiful and I LOVED IT, even a tiny bit more than Collide and ya'll know how much I loved Collide. Riley blew me away. Perfection! cannot wait for Mason's story!! I hope he ends up with Fred ;-) LOL.
"I know you said you were into guys longer than Coop, but I gotta know... do I need to stop drinking the water around here or what?"
I had MANY more quotes, but they had swears and Amazon kept sending back my review so I just took them all out. Got tired of trying to get which thing they were getting pissy about. My full review is on Goodreads with swear words and all ;-)
Totally in a compete loving haze of emotion over Riley Hart and her Blackcreek Series!
I have consumed both of these books in under 24 hours! It has been a while since a book broke my cry barrier down, but geeze if Brayden did not melt the frost from my heart, lol!!!
I got a brief glimpse of Brayden and Wes in Collide and although I am not so sure that Wes is my fave character, I can without a doubt put Brayden in my top 10 catagory! This man is cocky, he is pushy, he is like a true bull in a china shop of life...he always gets what he wants!
Unfortunately the one man he wants isn't feeling the same! Brayden cant quite get Wes on the same page but he is more than willing to take this challenge...little did he know that the push to get Wes would ultimately get him so much more!
For me, I was able to relax into this book more as both characters were already comfortable in their own lifestyles. They were already experts on what they wanted and needed, and it was HOT!
Wes may have been uncertain in the course of his love life, but he was absolute in he know of his body! Nothing better than two dominant men who go all out when it comes to passion and lust, WHEW...cold water please!!!
I will also say that for those lovers of romance...Ms Hart does a fabulous job at pulling the heartstrings with the 'family setting", the loss of loved ones, the need for a little girl to be happy, and most importantly with a tale of self worth and learning to take a chance and fight for true love. Wes and Brayden are fun, witty, and most beautifully in love!
Another fantastic book in this series. Another re-read and i forgot how much i love it! I more than love it!
Braden and Wes are such an unlikely pair but they compliment each other so well. Wes being the responsible, standoffish one. Always seems to have the weight of the world on his shoulders. Always feeling like maybe he's not worth anyone sticking around for. Then you have Braden. Funny and carefree but with a great big heart. Never taking life seriously his life is one big adventure. I adore both of them! They're like Yin and Yang. Both of them just fit. 2 halfs of a whole and their push and pull is amazing to read. Their chemistry is off the charts hot! When they came together boy did they come! Phewwwww!
Great storyline. Parts will break your heart but lots will make you smile in joy. Loved em from the first word to the last.
Lovely to see Noah and Cooper popping up and also next up, new boy Mason!
Loving this series as much as the first time i read them. Maybe more so this time round.
This is the second book in this series but the first that I have read and I must say it can be read as a stand alone, but I’m going to read book one very soon as I loved this story so much.
I loved this book so much and found myself so deeply immersed in the story it was 3.30am when I finished and I didn’t even realise!
Wes and Braden are great Main characters and Jessie is absolutely adorable, I think at times she is the glue that helps keep Wes and Braden together when times are tough. Wes is is lonely and sad he seems to have lost who he is, Braden is anything but he’s full of life, boisterous, flirty and let’s his mouth say exactly what he is thinking before engaging his brain. They are so very different in personality but they fit so perfectly. I liked the fact that this relationship was given time to develop from friends with benefits to something more, yes it started with a one night stand but it ended up being so very much more. Braden’s family are fantastic and I loved the whole family Christmas.
This was a super sweet, feel good story. Very low on the angst and drama but had plenty of steam, Wes and Braden are a hot couple. I love books where I don’t have to think. Where I just get lost in the words the flow of the plot and lose track of everything else, and this book ticks all the boxes for that.
Don’t get me wrong I love a good emotional heart wrenching angsty story, but this is one of those books that can be read after one of the gut wrenching kind so your heart can heal and you can smile for a little while.
Having read Collide and being completely taken with the characters, their story and the emotion, I couldn't wait to read Stay. If you haven't read the first book I really recommend; Wes and Braden were secondary characters, but their story began in Collide.
This book is slightly different in that both characters are comfortable with their sexuality. But ultimately the same message is reinforced. Love is love, and this is shown perfectly by the fact that Braden is bi-sexual and it's simply a case of him waiting to find the one, be it a man or a woman. The man is a treasure; witty, fun, kind and thoughtful, he inserts his foot into his mouth regularly and is completely endearing with it. Wes is struggling; everyone he loves has left him in some way or another and following his sister's death, he is raising her four year old daughter. He is full of fear and self-doubt, but he simply needs someone to make him see what a stellar job he is doing. And that man is Braden.
Kids can either make or break a book; they can be ridiculously unrealistic, or perfect. Jessie is the latter. Her world is untainted, as it is to all four year olds. She says what she sees and thinks and her growing relationship with Braden bring so many moments that made me smile. She is a sweet loveable little lady.
My heart ached for Wes and his fears and I wanted to throw my arms around Braden and squeeze him tightly for his patience, understanding and sweet gestures. And when Wes lets his barriers down, he too is a wonderful, witty man. You can't not want them to find happiness and it is this that makes for another captivating read. Whilst Collide had the edge based on the storyline, this is a very worthy sequel and one I highly recommend.
I hope we see more of Coop, Noah, Wes and Braden in Mason's book.
5.0 out of 5 starsMaybe. Probably. How do I know? Your Mama tells you.....

Wow.....I loved this book, waited for it with bated breath and it did not disappoint!! Braden (I want a Braden, seriously, he's on my Christmas list to Santa) and Wes's story was heartwarming, funny, sweet and passionate. The slowly slowly catchy monkey approach to their trusting and accepting each other to hold onto something real and not a one off was moving, especially around Wes's sudden parenting of his niece after his big sister's death. Jessie was a cutie 4 year old princess in training who worked her magic and loved them both -"I'm glad he's our friend, I like him, I didn't want to have to karate chop him".
I was pleased there was no big angst or drama, a little blip until common sense prevailed, so a story to just sit, absorb and simply enjoy. Loved that Cooper and Noah came in a few times and excited to see newbie Mason will be the next story! The only wish I had was for an epilogue as I would've loved to have seen them living together as a family unit, it wasn't necessary for the story, but I am invested in these characters and am always greedy for more!!! Fab read, highly recommend.
You have to read the first book (which was great) as it will make more sense, but this book was even better. Braden is also a firefighter and Cooper's friend, but he's also a notorious flirt, who is bi-sexual. Braden took Wes home from the bar the night Cooper through a hissie fit seeing Noah were playing pool with Wes and ended up in bed with Wes, after which Braden can't keep away from though Wes doesn't want anymore from him as taking care of his niece is his life. Braden keeps pushing Wes' buttons determined not to give up. Braden might be the biggest player ever but he also has the biggest heart of gold, though as he says "open mouth and insert foot". I loved this book and I'm hoping for a bit more in book 3 about these two.
