This is a darling little read by Robin Jones Gunn.
The story is about Miranda Carson. Miranda Carson is the daughter of Eve Carson, the actress. Eve and Miranda lead a rather vagabond, untraditional life as Eve carted her daugther around, (mostly the west coast) while pursuing her stage acting career. Miranda never knew her real father. In fact, Eve liked to tease Miranda with a fairy tale as to how she came to be. Miranda was of the belief that she did not have a father, until one day, when she was a young girl, she found a little blue pouch which contained a Playbill, a photo and a birth certificate. However, Eve would never reveal anything about Miranda's father. Eve died, when Miranda was 11.
In her early 20's Miranda shows the photograph to a boyfriend. And, with a little detective work, they realize where the photo was taken. Fast forward a few years and Miranda is sitting in that small village near London looking for the photo studio. She finds a kindly woman at a tea shop and the story spins from there, which changes Miranda's life.
I can't say more without revealing the story. You will have to read it to find out, if Miranda finds her father.
However, when the story ends, it is a bit of a cliffhanger. Which means, I now need to read the scond book, Engaging Father Christmas, to see where it goes.
I did enjoy this story. And, do recommend it for your Christmas time (or anytime) reading pleasure when you are looking for something sweet and quick to read.
