This WWII series by Ellie Dean is just fantastic! I have read them all to date and am anxiously awaiting the grand final book coming out in January 2018. By far this is the best series of books I have ever read and I have been an avid reader for well over 55 years. Ellie Dean brings the characters to life and you feel there every mood, sadness, joy and the anguish of going through WWII in England. The author has definitely researched the war taking you through each step naming the types of planes, factories and just how England withstood the onslaught of Hitler's constant bombing raids with grit, determination and an iron will to survive and win... and that they did!
Kudos to Ellie Dean and all those brave souls - the world will forever be grateful

This one actually made me cry...as we just see to many injustices and I can imagine that during WWII, it was so much worse. Just breaks my heart when a mother (even fictional) disown their children, as we also see it today...so it continues in another form...too many children who need love and a family...

I'm a big fan of this series of books and always look forward to reading the next installment. I've "pre-ordered" the next. The only drawback in this series was Amazon didn't sell two of the books to add to the others on my Kindle, but I was able to purchase them separately.

5.0 out of 5 stars A new understanding of life during the war.

The earlier books showed great love and romance during a time of uncertainty. This book shows what happens when a naive girl is bowled over by a smooth talking soldier. He is black but the same tragic thing happened with white soldiers whether American,Canadian ,French,or British. This novel is another great view into the problems if the time.

I've read all of Ellie Dean's historical romance stories of Beach Haven Boardinghouse. A wonderful series of what life was like for the British civilian during WWII. Believe this is Book 9 or 10 in the series.

I have loved every book by Nellie Dean and this was no different. She transports me to those war days as if I actually lived them myself. I never really understood the day to day survival mode our greatest generation had to live. I anxiously await each book.

My favorite Beach View Boarding House novel so far. All the characters are so real and also very kind, making Cliffehaven a town I would love to visit. I especially like Peggy and her vivacious personality.

Started this as soon as it was released and midnight and 7 hours later I could not have wished for more. I love the Cliffehaven series of which this is book 11 and it was great to be back in the embrace of all our favourite characters and to find out what is going on in their lives. If you loved the previous novels in the series there is no way this will disappoint you! 10/10, 5-star, 100% brilliance. Not enough words in the English language to describe how great this novel and the whole series is!!

Lovely to be back in Peggy's kitchen with all my friends from Beach View. Problem is I read them too quickly and then I'm disappointed the book is finished. This was a heart rending story and Ellie kept us waiting til the end for the outcome. Would like to know more about the 'secret' of Ron's and if any more will come from that. Looking forward to the next delivery of Peggy and co in January. In the meantime I've discovered she writes under Tamara McKinley (set in Australia) so I'm going to try those. Thanks Ellie.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ellie Dean at her best!

Ellie Dean at her best again. This book described the difficulties encountered by young innocent women who became pregnant whilst in relationships with American GI's, in this instance black GI's. It also highlighted the racism and segregation in the American Armed Forces along with the racism of the British public. Those of us born in that time of the post war period will have grown up with the dual standards of morality of that time drilled into us. Mothers would say to daughters euphemistically "don't dare bring any trouble to this door". Most of us were scared stiff and many girls who became pregnant found themselves thrown out of home, married off hastily or shipped to a mother and baby home from where the unwanted child would be adopted but not before the poor mother has cared for them for six weeks. To my knowledge those homes were still around in the late 1970's. I even heard tell of the poor young girls committing suicide rather than face the wrath of their families and society. I was very touched by April's story, the saddest thing is that these things actually happened and destroyed lives, be it racist abuse or the condemnation of society for strayed from the accepted norms. Thank God some of these attitudes no longer exist, sadly racism s still alive and well!

Yes really loved this . It was a shame for Alice about losing
Her best friend in the Air Raid. But glad everything turned
Out well for her after. Joining in with the Beach View people
And meeting up with her Uncle Stan. And things get a bit
Sad for April as she firstly finds she's expecting a Baby from
The American G.I. but finds he isn't the one. Having let her
Down badly. But she puts the Baby up for adoption.
And later has a accident that is touch and go. And
Whether the Baby survives. All her family and friends
Are there at the Hospital to see how she gets on.
And are there to help her. Well don't want to spoil
This ending for anyone who reads this. As they will
Have to find the ending themselves .whoever reads
It. But I will say such a great Book. Loved it.
Shame it came to an end. Just loved this book
From beginning to end had lots going on in it.
Loved it. I give this book five stars. It has got lots
Going in it. Keeps you at the edge of your seat.
It did me. Thanks very much Ellie Dean. Just Great.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another gripping family saga

Book 11 in this amazing family saga series . I love war time stories that don't start and finish in one book . They need to be read from book 1 in correct order to get the most from them and these books about the Reilly family are undoubtedly one of the best I have had the pleasure to read ! Each book gives the reader so many emotions from a quick smile to , shock , horror , joy , hope , anguish etc . You are able to "see" each character and each home and the road it is In as if you were actually in the story yourself . Now I'm off to download the next book in the series.
