Ralph is one of my favorite western genre authors ranking right there with L'amour and William Johnstone. His books make me feel like I'm back walking through the trails with the characters he creates.
I like a book that takes you into the story. This book and many others of Ralph Compton are written like Louis L'Amour. I especially like the trail drive series. I actually feel I am there at might with a hot coffee and listening to all the night sounds.
5.0 out of 5 starsthis is a book you must not miss.

this a really a most enjoyable book, and different from most others I have read, it starts as boys at school and how they become friends, it has hardly started when a most horrific happening takes place, you have one boy trying hard to get to Wichita and his friend holds him back in all sorts of frightening ways. it is not the sort of book you can read if you have serious work to do because you won't be turning up for it. this is a story that you will be anticipating in and you are fighting against the odds. yes you will enjoy this adventure no end.
