This is Book 2 in The Bleacke Shifter Series but can definitely be read as a standalone. The novel focuses on Beck and his newly found mate Nami. This is an adventurous story of how Beck meets his mate and totally falls for her and her siblings. Nami is a hard worker, human, and must learn to accept the world she enters without her siblings knowing. Characters from the first book are also in this novel but this is strictly Beck and Nami's story. A great 👍 read with a HEA.
I probably could have given this a better review if i had never heard the audio book. I could not stand the male character's voice. Then the whole thing was just kind of predictable and the characters were not very relatable. The first in the series was at least unique in the fact that it was a human male with a supernatural female. But this was not note worthy on a romantic level nor an urban fantasy level. In summary forgettable and disappointing.
Love these characters and am completely enjoying reading this series!! As I mentioned in my review of book 1, I had read book 2 first not knowing I had book 1. Extremely happy I found book 1 in my library!! Did not detract at all that I had already read this book first!! Same emotional bouncing; laugher and crying while reading. Loved everything!! Loved the characters!! I can highly recommend this series and will be searching for the next book right after I finish this review! Really worth your reading time!!!
The story seems like it's mostly about Dewi and her computer geek she fell in insta-love with, Ken, but it has a story within a story about how Beck finds his forever woman when he just happens to be on her bus. Nami is stunned about how he affects her, and how her siblings (that she raised!) will take the news. I loved seeing how non-shifter Nami learns to put even the pack leader, Dewi at her mercy without having the special Alpha compulsion magic.
I love this series! Rereading as book 4 will hopefully be out soon. Missed doing a review the first time around. Book 2 picks up from the end of book 1. Dewi and Beck are on a mission to locate a dead beat dad. Hoping a bus to try to catch him, Beck finds his mate in the bus driver. Nami is suprised to say the least when a tall, built, hot, blond blue eyed, white guy, kisses her, says mine, and hops off the bus. I loved Nami and Beck's story. Nami is strong African american women who has spent the last decade raising her younger siblings, after the death of their mother. I loved Beck's frantic search for his mate and than his slow and careful wooing of her. Very sweet. I loved the addition of Martin, a new Enforcer Dewi finally caved and added to their family. In Nami Dewi finds a mother figure, a sister and friend. As Nami and her siblings are adopted into the pack so is Dewi's little pack by them. Now it is getting Dewi into a wedding dress and making her brothers happy. Nami is just the women to do it.
A refreshing change from the fact the heroine's occupation always needs to exciting, powerful or glamorous for her to be validated. I like that a perfectly ordinary woman of color, doing a very ordinary job can become the mate of an extraordinary wolf shifter. The intensity of the attraction is off the charts but the heroine's responsibilities to her family forces the couple go slower than either would like. But when they do come together, it's explosive and all fans of shifter romances will be more than satisfied with the prowess of the delicious Beck! Dewi and Ken, from the first novel, are trying to find their way as well. When Nami's family history draws all the lovers and their mates into danger, tough choices must be made and Dewi must trust her judgment as Enforcer of the Pack to keep them all safe.
OH I loved Beck and Nami's story and how she was such a strong heroine that stood for her family and her beliefs! I think my favorite part of this series if that we get a deeper base story line that involves secondary characters.
