The author was able to put a whole story into only 42 pages and left us wanting more of Marshall and Melody. All Marshall was looking for was one last roll in the sack before he left the next day to head to war. He just needed the touch of an American woman, Lord knows how long it would be before he would feel that again, if ever. What he didn’t expect was for Melody to fill a void in his life that he had carried.

After their night of passion, he carried that memory in his dreams for the next ten years. After flying missions and dropping bombs the military felt he would be better back at home training the next generation of pilots. With nothing left but his memory of Melody, he began drowning his feelings in a bottle of whatever was handy. Realizing he needed help, he started therapy and was encouraged to seek out Melody, did she reach her dreams of becoming a doctor, was she married, have kids? These were answers he wasn’t sure he wanted, but knew he needed if he was ever going to move on with his life.

After a phone call, his world started taking a different turn. He found out what happen to Melody and then just as he thought things might be finally giving him a break, the unthinkable happens. The author is brilliant at sucking us in on page one and giving us a story with minimal words. She creates the scene for us that takes us away for an hour and characters that we will long to hear more about. I have to say these 42 pages made an impact on me, reminded me of what love and dedication and being left behind is all about. Make sure you get your copy of Unchained Melody and sit back and enjoy the escape it will bring you.

Let me preface by saying that R.E. Hargrave is one of my favorite authors! I loved her books To Serve is Divine and A Divine Life. Anxiously awaiting the 3rd in the series, I was pleasantly surprised when I learned this morning that she came out with a little novella - very sneaky RE ;) The fact that it was a stand alone not related to her other books piqued my interest. I one clicked this morning and curled up with it on my lunch hour.
What a beautiful love story! Marshall melted my heart. He is the epitome of a suave handsome Texas gentlemen. The fact that he was in the military (uniformed and handsome to boot) made the story line better.
Melody was his soul mate and it took years for the story to come full circle. The adage is true....sometimes you have to go to hell before you get to heaven.
Without giving any more away, I'll finish by saying that you won't regret reading this book. My day is brighter and my heart skipped a beat as I had a "dream come true" moment.

This is the love story of Marshal and Melody. But it’s not your typical story. This is a story that lasts 10 years of love, lust, regret, and acceptance.

Marshal only dreamed of being a fighter pilot. The night before he is shipped off he decided to one night of passion. He meets Melody. What he did not expect is that Melody will fill the void that he has. For ten years that night haunts his dreams. He ends up drowning his sorrow in a bottle. Eventually he ends up in therapy where he begins to wonder what happen to her. It’s an all-out search for the one women who he should not have let go. Will he find her? What has happened to her?

This is a short read but do not let it fool you. This book is packed full. Loved it.

What a wonderful quick read... A day at the beach, a doctor's appointment, a couple hours of peace and quiet? You'll have time to finish this darling little love story! You like a little drama with your love stories? there's still a bit here, just not all of the repetition. Marshall and Melody meet in the service right before Marshall ships out. The tale that follows spans 10 years... Love, lust, regret...
A standalone novella, only about 42 pages long, well worth your time. Thank you Ms. Hargrave for giving us a little something while waiting for the last installment of your Divine Life Trilogy.

Loved this amazing journey we took with Lieutenant Chandler over 10+ years! What a nice short trip along memory lane. I loved how author Hargrove slowly revealed the sexy love scene to us throughout....like sippin on a tall glass of sweet yummy lemonade while lounging in the hot sun -- enough said!! Of course that is typical style for Hargrove, never disappointing the readers (THANK YOU HARGROVE, WE LOVE YOUR DELICIOUS MIND). This was enjoyable read and loved the turns we were able to take along the way. Would definitely recommend this to those seeking a short story with some steamy parts and a happy ending ~ xoxox

I love how we get glimpses into Marshall's life after the a night of passion that was supposed to be just one night. Forwarding through the years until finally his past meets his future. I love R.E. Hargrave's writing. I have had the pleasure to read all of her books and look forward to many more stories to come

This is sweet second chance romance. The story is set over a span of 10 years, starting with Marshall Candler’s one night stand with Melody. He is starting his career in the USAF and deploys overseas the next day, she has plans to become a Doctor and they never bothered to exchange contact info. Never the less, he could not get Melody out of his head and every woman he met there after was compared to her, none ever compared to her. Unhappy and with life spiraling out of control he is deployed back home to Texas. He then finds his Melody once again. Once again R.E Hargrave adds a nice twist to the story. Thanks for another great story!

I listened to the Audible edition narrated by the talented La Petite Mort. He brings a lot to the story, sets the perfect tone and adds the right amount of dramatic flair. He has a wonderful voice and is a great performer! Thank you for another great listen!!

Marshall, his goal is to serve in the Air Force. Meeting Melody was not a goal even close within sight but he met her anyways. Love found? Love lost? Lust fulfilled? I am not telling.

This is a well written very short story with a bit of sexy.

Anyone who knows me knows that I have a thing for Texan men. I don't know what it is, but it's my 'thing' I guess. We all have one. So, when i started reading Unchained Melody, I already knew I was going to like Marshall thanks to the yellow rose on the cover (my favourite rose btw), but I didn't expect to fall in love with him.
I don't 'do' book boyfriends very often, I'm usually too busy reading rather than fawning, but boy, I fawned! Everything about this man made me swoon. The swagger, the drawl, the playboy side, the problems... everything. AND most of all... he's military. He literally is the perfect man for me. I want one tied up in a yellow bow and posted to me right now.

Ok, fangirling over and done with...

The entire premise of the book is pretty much genius. Marshall is looking back over the previous 8-10 years of his life and the effect a one night stand with Melody has had on him. Let's be real, he's a broken man, but war and lost love will do that to you. The entire time I was reading, I was rooting for a reunion.

As it's a novella, that's all the detail you're going to get out of me, otherwise I'd spoil the entire thing from you, but I will say this. I literally read it in less than an hour, so it's a perfect lunch break read. Seriously, go buy it and get sucked in by Hargrave's words and the world she created, then come back and tell me how dreamy Marshall is (just remember, I called dibs)
