I always enjoy reading about Megan and her K 9 partner Brigit. I feel like I know Megan and Brigit fairly well after reading all the books in the series. One of the funniest literary techniques is the alternating narrative from Megan and then Brigit. Everything Brigit thinks is a hoot. For example, after her last vet visit, Megan was told to stop giving Brigit so many treats since she gained six pounds since her last checkup. "If I had opposable thumbs I would be typing up a letter of resignation. Working for belly rubs and butt scratches is for amateurs. I deserve better. I deserve a liver treat dammit".
The main story in Paws Down is about a peeping tom that is working the Berkley Park area in Fort Worth. This is an upscale neighborhood with houses in the half million dollar range. They have a neighborhood watch patrol that is headed by Garrett Hawke, a big self important guy who is quick to place blame on the responding officers for not arriving fast enough and not being able to catch the peeping tom.
There are several side stories to keep the reader interested as well as the romance between Megan and Seth her Fireman/Bomb Expert boyfriend. All the characters are fully developed and likeable with the exception of a few really annoying antagonists. I would not hesitate to recommend this book to anyone who likes a good story. I'm sure you will enjoy this book. You can read any of these books as a stand-alone but if you start with the first book you will get more out of the references to the happenings in each prior book.
