1.0 out of 5 stars Bad chemistry, switching POVs in the series, makes for an unenjoyable read

Where to begin...okay. LOVED the first book. Like, my kids looked at me strangely for how hard I was laughing at times. Because of that, I was very excited to read Buck's book. And then I wasn't. To the point that I only read the first seven chapters. First of all, Ms. Hunting's decision to go from dual first POV in the first book to a singular first person was extremely annoying. I don't appreciate an author's inconsideration for their readers' preferences. Other people may like singular first person, but it's not for me. And had I started the first book, only to see that was the case, I wouldn't have read on and become engrossed in the overall storyline. So that's the first disappointment.

Second, is that their chemistry is a joke. Buck has more chemistry with his stepsister, Violet, than he does with Sunny. I'm not even kidding. The first few chapters had him interacting with a couple other women and I swear he had more chemistry with them than he did with the woman he's supposed to suddenly be celibate for. It made zero sense.

I'll give the next book a peek to see what the POV is, but I'm a bit turned off from not being able to enjoy the full series.

1.0 out of 5 stars Such a disappointment!

After reading the first book, this one was such a letdown. I absolute loved Buck, but I did not like Sunny. Not. At. All. She had no good characteristics. Her personality was more like a boring hippie who was a whiny witch and was so insecure she kept jumping to the wrong conclusions about Buck and the puck bunnies. She couldn't make any decisions for herself and listened to her even more witchy best friend and her overbearing brother. Yeah, I'm not a fan of that type of female main character. Through most of the book I actually wanted Buck to give up on her and find someone better.

I initially gave this book a 3 stars because I loved Buck, but every time I thought about Sunny it kept dropping a star. And when I thought about the whole thing with Violet's ex-boyfriend I finally settled on1 star.

I liked Violet and Alex's story so much that I had high hopes for Buck and Sunny's. However, almost immediately, there was something that didn't feel right/I didn't like about Sunny. I honestly think that the description of her in the beginning gave me the impression she wasn't right for him. I wasn't feeling their chemistry, but about 45% of the way in I actually got interested enough in the book to want to finish it. Although there were things that Buck could have done differently, I didn't like how Sunny reacted to situations, especially after the third or fourth time, and how he constantly had to reassure her throughout the story. They both had things to learn and growing up to do, but I was proud of him for breaking things off when he did, breaking the hamster wheel as it were. I realize that they are very young, and that is part of the drama. By the end I did enjoy their story more.
On a side note, does Violet have Tourettes Syndrome? I can almost dismiss her uncontrollable word vomit, but the seemingly uncontrollable pelvis thrusting when Randy is mentioned that she seems so embarrassed by is not normal, nor is it funny to me. I don't mean to take it so seriously, but it's so incredibly cringe-worthy and immature it was hard to get past. Although the author writes her characters in these books as young with things to learn, I find the women to be written as especially immature at times. I know they're young, but c'mon. However the stories are usually good, and the chemistry between the characters well-written for the most part.

3.0 out of 5 stars Redundant misunderstandings and a wimpy heroine cripple an otherwise well writtten main character

I didn't write a review for the first in this series, Pucked, since so many great reviews said just what I wanted to - that it was a great book. I try not to have expectations of subsequent books in a series, since each should be unique in story and characters. Unlike the first book, which was told in both Alex and Violet's viewpoints, this book was told in only Miller's point of view. I am very thankful for this, it might have even saved the book somewhat for me, since I could not stand Sunny the entire book. I haven't read a more wishy-washy dumb heroine in a long while. She was written as a twenty-something masquerading as a 15 year old child. A brief reason for this was given at the very end, but not a satisfying one. The story was fraught with miscommunication and misunderstanding, a trope I am not overly fond of, making me almost abandon the story at 50% and skim the next few misunderstandings. What made me continue? Miller. And Miller and Violet's relationship. This is where Ms. Hunting's excellent writing shines through. For writing and those two characters I gave this 3 stars instead of the 2 I wanted to. I also liked Miller's slow movement toward improving himself, and wished I could have seen more of that. The relationship had no substance, almost where I wished Miller found someone more solid to love in the end. I was not feeling it. There were a few little feeders put out about other characters that will probably show up in other books of the series, Lily and Randy being the next, which I don't plan on reading. For those of you who read and enjoyed Pucked, there is a very slight cliffy for Alex and Violet in this book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good!

Book 2 of the series. Miller and Sunny are a match made in heaven once you take away the tricky situations Miller finds himself in. I'm a mother with a child with ADHD and ASD and I could see my son in Miller many times. It was a pleasant story. I liked both characters, the setting, and their back story. The only negative I can think of is the quick ending. I was just getting into the story and it ended.
However, if you like sports romance then this is one for you. You don't need to read book 1 to read this book, although the characters from book 1 are mentioned throughout.

4.0 out of 5 stars A series that can cheer me up on the gloomiest of days. I loved Buck and Sunny!

When I read "Pucked" and first discovered that Buck and Sunny were an item, I didn't really take their relationship seriously. The pair appeared to be so completely different that I doubted things would workout between them. How wrong was I? Buck and Sunny made an adorable couple and I loved every minute of their story.

Buck was very much like his step-sister, extremely funny and entertaining. He made me smile from the word go. Throughout the course of his romance with Sunny, Buck found himself in all sorts of embarrassing situations that made me chuckle. At times I really did feel sorry for him as he tried so desperately to create a good impression only to have whatever he was doing backfire in his face. He just could not seem to do anything right. I was really surprised and impressed by how much Buck was prepared to change for Sunny. He was not nearly as bad as Violet had always made him out to be.

Sunny was a sweet character who blossomed with Buck by her side. Yes, there were a hell of a lot of differences between them but they worked so well together. The only gripe I had with Sunny was how quickly she judged Bucks actions without listening to what he had to say. I felt that she was a little too harsh on poor Buck, but I did understand why she found it so difficult to trust him because of his previous history with the ladies. I just wanted her to trust Buck a little more and ignore the media a little less.

Buck and Sunny's relationship was a big learning curve for each of them as there were a few issues they had to deal with. However when things were going well between them, they made a really cute couple. I loved how happy they made each other and their happiness transferred from the page to me. I pretty much spent the majority of the story with a smile on my face. I also loved the scenes between Buck and Violet. I loved how close they were, it was obvious how important they were to each other. Their scenes together were always so funny and light-hearted.

This author possesses a fantastic talent of being able to write brilliant romantic comedies that I could quite happily read again and again. So far this series has been a joy to read and I am already excited for book three. If you are looking for a series that will cheer you up on the most gloomiest of days, I highly recommend adding this to your kindle. I am sure that you won't regret it.

Awwww....I have a soft spot for Miller 'Buck' Butterson. It surprised me how quickly I liked his character, because in the first book, Pucked, we see him primarily as Violet's brother and he is not always portrayed in the best light. In this book , however, he grabs your heart and hangs on tight.
I think it is his underlying vulnerability that makes him so likeable. He has been a total , unashamed bed hopper. He is young, attractive, a professional athlete and well known for his sexploits!! So what happens when the player falls really hard for his Team Captain and brother - in -law to be's little sister? Some really hilarious, laugh out loud funny stuff is the answer. At times his inner monologue reminded me of Drew from Tangled by Emma Chase. Seeing the world through the male pov is absolutely fantastic! The banter within and around him is so well written. I couldn't believe the situations he found himself in. It was like car crash TV, I just couldn't not look.
The only downside for me was Sunny- on occasion she seemed a bit immature in that she listens to every one but Miller. He was a good guy and loyal despite his history and I hated how people (Alex) treated him at times. Miller really makes this book a thoroughly enjoyable and feel good read. Pucked Over comes out next, not sure who it is about but I really hope Randy Balls is the hero.....now there's a sentence I never thought I'd say!

Another wonderful book in the Pucked series from Helena Hunting.

This follows Buck (Miller) Butterson with his pursuit for Sunny Waters. She is Alex Waters sister and Alex is the captain of the hockey team in which Buck plays. Alex has recently become engaged to Violet who is Bucks step sister , so all in all things were left a little complicated and heated at the end of Pucked.
This book is just as funny, as Bucks intentions for Sunny escalates and he tries to find all sorts of different ways to impress her. Usual the only way he has been used to impressing women is in one night stands with so called "puck bunny's" and showing off his "charms" to them for the one night only. A bit of a player where the ladies are concerned, he now finds he has all sorts of different feeling's for Sunny apart from the sexual one's he usually has.
Sunny is sweet and kind but a little naive, and Buck has his work cut out trying to prove to her that he can be different and more of boyfriend materiel and less of a man whore.
You get snippets in the book from Alex and Violet and I make it no shame in admitting that I fell in love with Violet in the first book, She is just one on its own and when her character appears, she light's up the page !!! I can't recommend these books enough, they will have you laughing out loud. Truly wonderful !!!!

Book 2 of the Pucked series following Violet's brother Buck and Alex's sister Sunny. This can be read as a standalone, but I highly recommend you read Pucked first. Buck is a player (or was, until Sunny came into his life), he's trying is best to stay on the straight and narrow. Unfortunately for Buck, he seems to be a "Puck Bunny"magnet and finds himself, through no particular fault of his own, regularly on social media in compromising positions with other women. Enter Sunny's ex "Bushman," to try and sweep her off her feet and win her back, and we end up with some serious laugh out loud moments. I really felt for both Sunny and Buck. Sunny struggling with her trust issues, and Buck dealing with social media and dyslexia. I also loved Buck and Violet's relationship, so inappropriate, yet hilarious, gives a new meaning to no secrets within the family. Wonderful story, beautifully written with lots of chemistry between all the characters. It did take me a few chapters to really get into the book. Not as good as book 1 in my opinion, but I'm still looking forward to reading about more of the players in the next book.
