Alex is a very careful vampire. He has locks inside his coffin and keypad locks on doors in the tunnel to his coffin. He still believes in God and his guardian angel is still with him even after he was turned. She knows he is depressed and knows his life is going to get better. In the Collective meeting they are trying to find a way to find Malcolm. He continues to make vampires when it is against the rules. Deanna thinks getting vampire slayers to find Malcolm would be the one thing he won't expect. Alex is walking in the rain and hears a sound that causes he so much pain. The source is a newborn in a dumpster. Danielle says she is destined for great things and he is the only one who can care for her. How is he going to care for her? Will they find Malcolm?
4.0 out of 5 starsSomewhat predictable, but fun read

While this book isn't the most fantastic vampire book out there, it's still a beautifully written book. I think there is definite potential for the author to continue the story of Jaiden in subsequent books, but this is a good stand-alone novel.
We are introduced to the members of the Higher Collective and their goal of maintaining a balance between the human world and the supernatural world. However, as in all good books, there is a villain who just wishes to rule over all. Alex is the main character in this book and he struggles with his life as a vampire and the atrocities it causes him to do in order to survive. Then along comes Jaiden and suddenly his world (as well as the rest of the members of the Higher Collective) is turned upside down as they struggle to survive and keep Jaiden safe.
The characters and plot is somewhat predictable and the writing does tend to be a little wordy at times. This is still a good book though, and Jennifer Malone Wright is a great author.

This story was a bit slow in the beginning but it was setting the scene for aa the action later on. Lots of angst and emotional turmoil for Alex who is a vampire and tasked with a mission that would change his life forever. This was a quick read on a Sunday morning.
2.0 out of 5 starsOkay Read, different kind of Vampire story

I started off thinking this must be a comedy. A Christian Vampire? He goes to church and prays... "Lord, Please forgive me of my sins".... Different I guess. By the end, I'd have to say it wasn't too good, and it wasn't too bad. I go by Goodreads rating, so Two stars say's it was an okay read.
If you are looking for a different type of vampire story this is it. For me this was one of the best I have read in a while. The author used so much imagination bringing so many diverse characters together within the story and pulled it all together to make a great read.

In this story we find a man who truly needs a good reason to go on with the rest of his immortal life. He's depressed and withdrawn. That's when his little miracle arrives, bring a light back into his life.
Vampires, witches, magic, and evil abound in this story. I enjoyed every page and hope there will be a sequel in the future. I could see a very successful series coming from this group of characters. :)
Alexander (Known as Alex) is a Vampire, you learn this from the start.
We learn that he lost his family through a horrific tragedy, although you don't find out the complete details of what actually happens until towards the end of the book when Alex is finally opening up and re-telling his story and his pain.
To be completely honest with you, I personally thought that I wouldn't like the story, don't ask me why, because I truly wouldn't be able to give you an honest answer, I think I just thought it was about someone protecting a child, but I was proven wrong and I'm glad I continued reading this book, because I eventually fell in love with it!
Alex is constantly living in grief and pain, from the ordeal he went through with his family years previous, he feels abandoned by God himself, abandoned from civilisation, he seemed to have lost his faith in the Lord at some point in his life, but his Guardian Angel, managed to bring him back to praise the Lord himself, and managed to restore some of the faith he lost, through a small innocent little child, Jaiden!
This book is action packed, and I love the story that's starting to flourish between Alex & Isabella. I do hope to see more from them and I definitely look forward to reading the sequel to this book!
Jennifer always manages to pull you so far into her stories, that you feel like your practically walking in the characters shoes, I freaking love it! I've read the TVHD series by Jennifer and I loved her writing and layout of the storyline in that, she is an awesome writer, and I would recommend this book to EVERYONE!
