My first opinion of this book was that it was starting off a little bit slow. But I hung in there for a few chapters and then my interest was stimulated and quickly I couldn’t put down the book and finished it in two days.

If you admire alpha male characters and strong, quick witted, sharp tongued females, then you will enjoy the characters in this book as they bring bad guys to justice.

I could give you the Readers Digest condensed version of this book but I don’t want to spoil it for you.
I will just paraphrase what a 45 year old woman told me as a young 13 year old boy, “Try it, you will like it”. I did, and I did. Read the book, you will like it.

These spy/action novels are filled with hero's, great action, clever people, and witty banter...but they are typically from a mans perspective. This book breaks the gender role in a new and exciting way, and it's terrific. I was leery of reading this one, it could have been so bad...but to my absolute delight it was a great action packed read with just enough female flavor to make it a refreshing change. This is almost a female Jason Bourne without all the psych nonsense, and we get to meet her at her lowest point in life...an overweight female air force cop booted from the service with no home, no money, and no plan...and there begins this action hero's tale...
I will be buying the other books in this series, a big thank you to the author for getting me hooked with the free first book!

5.0 out of 5 stars I Can't Stop Re-Reading This Series!

The short of how awesome this book (and whole series) is . . . Life is too short to re-read books that don't make your heart pound a little harder, and I've read all the books in this series THREE TIMES.

I love that there is just as much ass-kicking and blowing things up as there is romance. It's a great blend centering around a woman who I would totally look up to if she were my friend. Definitely recommend!

I was a little skeptical about reading this, but I easily fell in love and couldn't put it down. How Sarah goes from an overweight girl to a major hottie was so inspiring! I kind of felt at one point that she was kind of a slut, but I understood that as part of her job she has to sleep around. I loved the chemistry between her and Vince! I would 100% recommend this book to anyone! I literally could not put it down. I have even started telling my friends to read it. As soon as I finished I went and bought the other 3 novels just because I NEEDED to know what was going to happen! Wonderfully done!

4.0 out of 5 stars Very different heroine

The Path to Freedom (Task Force 125)
Sarah was a very different kind of heroine. You either loved her or hated her. She reminded me of the character who is usually the brother or best friend of the hero. He is usually handsome, an outrageous flirt, heavy drinker, inappropriate, a joker, egotistical and promiscuous. Sarah was all of those things in a female body. She was not a sympathetic character but an interesting one. Was this book written in the sixties? I can't believe that so many fitness conscious people would be chain smokers. I would read about this team again.

2.0 out of 5 stars Few Thrills

This is definitely a 'chick flick' in novel form. The main character, a strong female, is constantly lusting after someone on her anti-terror team. The team's mission doesn't start until we're 2/3 through the book. Oh, there is a momentary thrill before then, but the first 2/3 of the book is consumed by self-pity, personality change, then male bonding from a female perspective. Too many words are used discussing the trivia of life and too few are used for the adventures.

There are too many discrepancies. How can people who's lives depend on their level of fitness and stamina smoke like chimneys and drink (alcohol) like fish? The sex is glossed over while the violence is described in detail. Why do we as a society find excitement in a gun shot or knife stabbing yet cower from the sight of a butt or female breast?

I won't be looking for the other books in this series.

The story line was fair. The author seemed too obsessed with describing all of the men as hotties. Too shallow.

Left a bad taste in my mouth.

Create a highly trained, skilled, intelligent female operative and give her ALL the awesome kickass skills...then send her off to be a whore for you instead. Because that's her sum value. No thanks.

This is one of the best books i've read lately. It is entertaining and well written, with just a touch of humour in the right places without seeming too obvious. I just couldn't put it down.
There are no mistakes neither in spelling nor in grammar (I won't guarantee there are NO mistakes, but none that hit me straight. Maybe i was just distracted) and there are no sudden surprises in the layout - what can you expect more?

4.0 out of 5 stars Incredibly intriguing story...

I know that some reviews have been pretty negative over certain aspects of this book. For instance Sarah's role as honey pot and for another her weight issue. I don't have enough knowledge of the ASAF or CIA to refute these concerns but in my humble opinion I don't feel they are as far fetched as they may seem. Being an overweight lady myself due to self esteem issues I felt Sarah's plight quite well expressed. From what I understood her job was security (and come on we've all seen overweight security guards) and if Sarah had been on active duty or even remotely happy in her life her weight would have likely not been an issue. Secondly with her being a highly skilled and attractive woman the honey pot role seemed perfect. Men in under cover roles would undoubtedly do the same if the crime bosses were females. Being a woman in such a role I would imagine requires more skill. For one thing woman generally speaking don't have as much physical strength as men no matter how hard they train. Secondly women tend to have more of an emotional connection to those they have sex with. Which would make such positions require extraordinary skill sets.

Keeping those previous reviews in mind I was expecting to dislike this book from the start. Instead I was thoroughly gripped. I really enjoyed this book and I can't wait for the next. Please consider giving this series a try and you might just get a pleasant surprise.
