A very well written horror book from a talented author. This is the second book by the author that I've read and he definitely has a gift for words. The story is fast paced and spooky as hell. You won't want to go out into the woods alone after reading this one, that's for sure. You'll probably want to avoid it even when you're not alone. LOL. Lovers of horror stories will love it! I hope there's a sequel. I'll be the first one to buy it.
I loved this book! It's tremendously exciting horror and I kept a pleased expression of satisfaction throughout. Mr. Strong has a smooth writing style, and leads the reader subtly to the horrors. Not for him is the "throw the gore at the wall and watch it splatter" approach. Instead, while we are quite frightened (indoors, in daytime, I still kept glancing over my shoulder and watching behind me), we readers are also treated to excellent writing talent and an enjoyable story. I knew when I read THE APARTMENT that this is an author to watch.
This is a well written book, about a Cajun myth. There is lots of gore so if you don't like blood and guts this is not the book for you. If you are a hardcore horror fan who doesn't mind the gore this is definitely the book for you. It has an easy to follow plot with a few twists. The characters are mostly went developed, and they mesh to make this book a winner.
Strong really delivers in all the key points in this horror novel. The characters are likable, the creature is wicked, the plot is action packed and the storyline delivers plenty of suspense. I'm definitely picking up the other two books in the series. This is exactly the type of book that hooked me into this genre to begin with. That being said, thank you Anthony Strong for providing me a few serious hours of entertainment!
I liked this story. A traditional Werewolf yarn, set in small town Louisiana. The main character, the Sheriff, is likeable. A good man, who's been through hell and back, and has returned to his home town to serve as the Sheriff. But the sleepy little place he grew up, is in for some very bloody nights. I won't say anymore, and spoil the story, but if you like your Werewolves scary, instead of hunky...you'll like this book.
I am currently at chapter 28 and want to stop reading because I don't want anything bad to happen to the characters I like. But I can't stop. Oh, Mr. Strong, you compel me to places I dare not go, but must. There's always hope. Right?
Well-written, more literate than most books in this genre. A spooky atmosphere, a bit of horror laced with mystery, and decently developed characters make this book worth the read. I've already ordered the two sequels. Those who enjoy the creepy paranormal should keep an eye on this author; nothing "cozy" about his style!
Loved the gritty characters and wild plot. The sheriff is a new type of hero, and more realistic than the general law enforcement official. The other characters are interwoven into a rollercoaster plot.
