Hard to believe. Child trafficking has gruesome details. Starke starts to become more emotional in solving the mysterious deaths in this area, and also juggling his love life. And of course, there is a mob price on his head which causes him to become paranoid about security. Meanwhile, clues keep piling up, but Starke keeps hitting a stone wall. Without giving it away, he suddenly gets a lead. Ok, plausible but a convenient shortcut. Still thrilling. After that, watch out...the guilty better pray. As to being with one woman...I’m not sure he has settled down in his love affairs. But he shows he also cares about his staff and .. then there is old flame of 15 years, Kate. Why is she putting up with him? To me that’s a weakness in the romance angle. Maybe we get more insight in the next book, about his bachelor status and his girlfriends. Looking forward to it. Great read by the pool with a drink...they do drink a lot in this book.

Hill House is an interesting fast paced, cold case mystery. Harry Starke is an interesting if overly macho character. But then PIs have that reputation. I liked this book better than Two For The money. It is worth reading for all of us who like mystery/thrillers.

Hill House, A Harry Starke novel by Blair Howard, is an eye-opener, and a great read. It begins with the discovery of the body of a young girl hidden under the floorboards of an old house. From there, it’s action all the way, the pacing is brisk. The plot is strong, and the characters, many of them featured in previous books and old favorites by now, are well drawn and believable. The solution was a surprise, totally unexpected. I enjoyed the book and am looking forward to the next book in the series.
Nice breezy mystery. Howard knows how to write a good mystery with some humor in it. Harry Starke is a lush, but he is also a very good detective. I plan to read all Harry Starke books. They are very entertaining. The offbeat Chattanooga, Tenn. location enhances the books.
Hill House is a comfortable read. The characters retain their qualities and are cohesive within the series. There are several twists and turns that lead you in many different directions. Action packed, as usual. I did not figure out the.mi liked the surprise.
