This is Matt Shaw's sick and twisted version of Big Brother. Imagine a network executive gave the horror movie killer, Jigsaw his own reality tv show and you have 'Control'. There's blood, gore, sex, backstabbing and enough psychological horror to probably be a hit show, but is somebody really airing this?
This book throws you into the mayhem pretty quick to catch your attention and it doesn't let go. Through the use of flashbacks, Matt takes you into the previous lives of the housemates: Before the game, during the audition, and before the opening scenes, where the group is getting to know one another. These flashbacks give you an inside peek into each character (12 all together) and aren't that long so basically, you learn something new and Matt quickly throws you back into the action.
As with Big Brother or any reality show, there's luxury and elimination competitions. Each are unique and twisted. Even when I thought the house guests were safe, Matt hit me with a curve ball I didn't see coming. Halfway through, Matt gives us a major twist and builds on it and builds on it until the shocking finale.
Fans of Matt's Extreme series of books will be happy. This novel is very close to being one. Fans of Iain Rob Wright's Housemates will love this book as well.
