Alpha in the Sheets is the first book I’ve read by Tamsen Parker, but definitely won’t be my last. She’s written an intriguing romance that includes consensual, safe and intricate details of a Dominant-submissive relationship between main characters Crispin & India. Cris, isn’t the typical character that this genre often describes as billionaire, controller and emotionally stunted. He’s quite the opposite. India thrives on the chaos of her career, is emotionally unavailable and chooses submission, partially as a coping mechanism to quiet her mind from the stresses of her life and for the sexual release.
Tamsen Parker is well versed or did great research of the BDSM, D/s dynamic and weaves it into the romance creating the perfect amount of heat and eroticism. The story lacks the showing of emotional connection and description of who the characters are outside of their career and D/s roles. I deducted on star for it. A good book, but not one where the characters will be memorable nor a book I’d read multiple times. I would recommend it to readers looking for an erotic romance. Be aware, this is the first book of two and does end on a cliffhanger. I’m looking forward to reading book 2 in the After Hours series.
